I'm so pumped up for the season to start (and Bears vs. Packers!) that I had to start the game thread already.

And what good is this thread without some pics?

Not according to this.

Nice picture contributions. :D

Oh well that page is likely wrong. As I'm sure you know, games typically start at 1PM and 4PM EST every sunday, meaning 12pm and 3pm. All the times listed on that page say 12pm and 3pm EST. I am guessing the EST part is incorrect.

Edit: Quick trip to ESPN.com confirms

That's because the game is at 2:15 CST and 3:15 EST. While the country is on DST during the summer, people still say Eastern time and Central time, but that is actually now EDT and CDT.

So the game starts at 4:15 EDT and 3:15 CDT/which translates to 3:15 EST and 2:15 CST. So the site is correct, just very strangely listed.

BTW, this is what Indiana went through for years before we went on DST. We actually were on EST time all year long-but practically, that meant we were on Eastern time half the year (because the timing was standard) and central time half the year when it went to CDT.

I think people would be wise to take the Pack minus the three and a half...

...if they want to lose money.

Speaking of sports betting...

Mansion.com is offering a free $1100 bet (to win $1000) on the Steelers for opening week. Basically, you deposit the money, bet it, and if you lose, they'll refund you the money w/no catch. If you win, you win.

I guess it's a way for them to get people who have that much money laying around to sign up for their site.

The posters talking it up are pretty reputable on that forum. It does sound too good to be true, so I'm still mulling it over.

Just thought I'd pass along the info if anyone wanted some free money, lol.

Money that easy is not worth the risk that it backfires to me.

Are you kidding? The Packers could be the worst team in the NFL.

We may not be good, but worst team in the NFL?

If you think this will be a blowout, you're clearly mistaken. The Bears didn't really blow any team out last year and had several close games, including both games against Green Bay. So what makes you think that this game will be a blowout?

I'm confident the Pack can keep it close and I think they may be able to pull off the upset if Favre doesn't turn the ball over more than twice.

GO PACK GO!

I have a feeling the Bears offense will open some eyes in this game. They weren't showing all their cards in the preseason.

What makes me think this game will be a blow out? The Packers are TERRIBLE. I know you're a Packers fan but let's face it, there is no upside to this season. Ahman Green is done, Favre is done, Donald Driver is the only receiver of note and he's no game breaker, the head coach the Pack hired coached the worst offense in the history of football last year, the O-line is studded with rookies, Ahmad Carroll is a bust, the D-line is pedestrian, and the Pack have looked awful in the preseason. Barring some sort of miracle, there is no way the Pack are covering in this game. The tables have turned in this rivalry.
