I remember the 2003 game so fondly. I was living in NH at the time so I didn't get the games (I was about a week away from discovering mlb.tv). So I left to do errands when it was 6-0, about an hour later, just out of chance I checked the game score on my cell phone and saw that it was 7-6. Thus led to for me a memorable moment of frantically refreshing my cell phone while driving down the highway and then when Alou gave the Cubs the lead I think I swerved all over the highway while celebrating. Good times.

Haha that's great! I have a real similar story:

I was in a hotel in Colorado, first time ever using a wifi connection which would annoyingly go in and out of range. Game wasn't on cable so I followed it intermittently on mlb.com on my laptop. When Ramirez hit the HR to make it 6-3 I knew it was a game. But then my connection cut out and I didn't get it back until the 8th when it was 7-6 Cards. Just in time to see Alou drive in the winning run on the AB abuck mentioned above.

I felt like a [expletive] cheering by myself in a hotel sitting at my computer when Jobo struck out Edmonds to end the game, but IIRC that win knocked the Cards out of first and put the Cubs 1 GB.

Ditka was in the booth that day. It was crazy how everything happened the way it did.
He was also the guest conductor for the Cubs-Rangers game in 2002 that I went to where Alex Gonzalez won it with one of his patented walk-off home runs. Ditka must have a magic touch. :D

I was in a similar situation, ended up missing most of the game because I was moving my things out of my apartment at UCLA back to my mom's home and I was stuck in Los Angeles traffic (I was going to do a quarter at UCSD). Thankfully, my mom had recorded the game because she sensed it would be a good one.

It's not like the Cards never did the same thing to us.

2002 game on ESPN

That game still hurts; I remember it very well. Another 6-run lead game that's still painful (I was at the game, surrounded by obnoxious Cardinal fans):

That game killed me. I left for work when the score was 7-2. When I got there and saw that the Cardinals took the lead, I pushed a huge stack of papers off a desk in anger. My coworkers (all Red Sox fans) looked at me like I was nuts. After that I was known as "Angry Cub fan", as I remain to this day.

Haha. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well mood-wise (personal problem) and my coworkers noticed. The other bartender (a woman) asked me "What's wrong? Are you having girl problems...or did the Cubs lose today?" That actually made me laugh.
