@RyanRosenblatt Graham Zusi putting Mexico in the World Cup was just a glorious long play to make Rafa Marquez the goat in the World Cup one more time

I think one of the Univision announcers just self-defenestrated out of the booth.

i was going to say, i'm not 100% familiar with soccer, is this something that someone dies over?

Arjen Robben would, if he ever sets foot in Mexico.

Tuned in at the 69 minute mark. Mexico seemed to play conservative which isn't their style at all. Once the equalizer was scored they self destructed and started lunging and stabbing. A defender tried to slide tackle in the box immediately before the penalty. He missed entirely which was lucky. Then his teammate made a horrible stab for the ball rather than boxing in the player to the goalline. Just desperate play for a team that was winning.

I don't think I could have come up with a better script for this match.

As much as I dislike Rafa, that was a soft-assed penalty, and Robben is no better with his dolphin-like theatrics.

Rafa should have known better. Robben had no angle to shoot on goal and Rafa needs to mind his feet in those situations. Robben embelished, but that was the correct call.

Within the context of how he called the previous 94 minutes of the game, it was absolutely not a PK.

Even given the call, if it were possible to card both Rafa for the foul and Robben for simulation, he should have done it.

Subbing Gio out cost Mexico the game, but that was an iffy call at best.
