*Former Crew midfielder Danny Szetela is being loaned by Spain's Racing Santander to Brescia in Italy's Serie B for the rest of the season with an option to buy.

Brescia is 6th in Seria B with a game in hand. They are 7 points out of promotion.

He needs to play as much as possible. I still really like him, and want to see him become a force.

From du nord:
US Soccer President Sunil Gulati told Fox Soccer Channel that the USA will probably play 2 games in the late May international window. I think the Spain game will be the 2nd of those, so look for another in America on Memorial Day weekend.

There's your other date, US.

Massive MLS Rumor Mongerville

It's official now that Chivas USA keeper Brad Guzan is off to Celtic for a serious trial. The word is that Celtic has offered 1 Million Pounds for the Worm. Damn that is low.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

While Celtic's Polish forward Maciej Zurawski could be headed to the Columbus Crew.

That offer is really low for Guzan. I think he is worth at least 3 mil.

Haven't seen this anywhere, but Aston Villa have offer $4 milion for Guzan. Report says it will be up to Guzan as to where he wants to go.

People are going to hate these, but really like them. That's the home jersey for this year, by the way. Which I am buying.

Guzan has left camp to go to England. Sounds like Villa is a done deal. We now have 5 keepers in the BPL. He will be back for the Mexico game.

That's a pretty bold look ("Wait, is 'bold' the right word?"), especially since the roads appear to be just plain Navy.

No better way to introduce a new kit than to beat Mexico, though.

I like that jersey a lot, very simple and clean. I can't wait for a National Team game in Frisco. Hopefully against a European opponent.

I hope everyone is paying attention to Ronaldo right now. Two more today. That makes 27 in 26 games or some ridiculous crap like that.

Eight goals in his last four games.

On the year he has 27 goals in 29 games. And that's after he started the year with no goals in his first five games and only two in his first nine games.

I like the alternating white and off-white hoops.

I think it looks awesome and like something I'd want to wear, but I'm not sure how it's going to look on a pitch.

if it was a betting man, i'd put a wager on ronaldo moving to spain this summer.

p.s. he's on playing an entire other level than anyone in the prem. if he stays this good, man utd will make a deep run in the champions league.

I can't see him moving yet. He's recently signed a lengthy extension, he's said he likes and wants to stay at Utd, and Real Madrid have said they can't get him. Granted all of that doesn't mean much. The real issue is that the transfer fee would be astronomical. Well, that and there is no reason that Manchester United would want to sell him. They don't sell young stars, they buy them.

There's a history of Premier League players not doing well in the European and World player of the year awards, but if United go deep in the Champions League this year he has to be at the ceremonies again this year. He tends to be heavily marked against the elite teams and doesn't produce as much, though. If he can do what Kaka did last year in the semis and final of the CL, it's his to lose.

This is his free kick goal today, absolutely ridiculous.

Haven't seen many better

Dude has had some absolutely RIDICULOUS free kicks this year.

I agree with you on the transfer fee. If somebody does buy him, it's going to be for an insane amount of money.

And thanks for mentioning this goal because it reminded me to watch Fox Soccer Report tonight.

The new US soccer jersey is growing on me. The first time I saw it I didn't really like it but having looked at it a couple times, I like it a lot more now.

That jersey has grown on me, although I think it'd be awesome if the stripes were navy instead of red.

Also, SBI is saying that Guzan's work permit for England got denied.

I forgot all about the work permit potential problems.

Shakeup in the ESPN booth:

The Red Card[/url]"]ESPN has announced a new broadcast booth for its MLS and U.S. national team telecasts -- and it doesn't include Eric Wynalda.

Veteran soccer announcer JP Dellacamera and former U.S. national team captain John Harkes will take over "MLS Primetime Thursday" and U.S. soccer broadcasts. Dellacamera steps in as the play-by-play man for Dave O'Brien, who will focus on ESPN's Major League Baseball and men's basketball telecasts. Harkes takes over as analyst for Wynalda, who has been reassigned to in-studio soccer duties including ESPN's Champions League coverage.

Wynalda did himself no favors last season after derogatory comments he made to a soccer blog about a fellow ESPN personality who's also a notorious soccer critic.

"I'm still an ESPN employee," Wynalda told me on Wednesday. "I've been covering the game as an analyst for three years and this is a big change to do Champions League games. I'm excited when I look at the schedule."

Sideline reporter Allen Hopkins will be part of ESPN's soccer broadcasts for a second year and Rob Stone will return as an on-site studio host with former U.S. women's national team captain Julie Foudy serving as a studio analyst.

He'll spend the 2008 season with Chivas USA.

Appeal!! (Sometimes it works in Worldwide Soccer Manager.)

The Top 70 and 75% of competitive matches for the national team is kind of ridiculous for a keeper. This means, of the current team, only Howard can get a British permit. Also, I'm pretty sure that Man U. got Howard in on an appeal. Guzan has 4 caps, is clearly competing with Howard, and will regularly get called up to the US MNT.

The jerseys look better with the name and number on them:

I wonder what the rest of the kit will look like, though.
