That isn't going to happen anymore. CA figured out that Montreal sucks, and how to play on turf.

Their first and third goals were awesome.

Well, the MLS pool for the next one is looking pretty strong - Seattle, DC, RSL, LA, Vancouver. Hopefully they field some good teams and do what Montreal (and RSL 2011) couldn't do.

Martins and Dempsey are so, so good together.

They really are next level together in terms of what MLS has to offer. Obviously they're both pretty special players in terms of talent and being underrated globally in their generation and Seattle was fortunate to have the chemistry work so well, but more teams should try to replicate it. The quick passing short game around the area allows them to break down almost any style on almost any field. Whether they're going up the wings, playing the long ball or working through the middle it doesn't matter as long as the ball finds one of their feet anywhere in the opponents half. It's probably impossible to replicate, but I just don't know why a team would invest in a David Villa or a Thierry Henry without someone paired on the field right next to them to take advantage of the intuitive movement and one touch abilities that is missing everywhere else in the league. It sucks when you have a guy like Thierry Henry in your league for 4 years and it takes you 4 years to find a guy that knows where to go when Henry has the ball. The Donovan-Keane/Martens-Dempsey pairing is the only way to get the most value out of a DP forward. Otherwise you end up watching David Villa and Thierry Henry getting pissed off at their teammates for 90 minutes for not knowing where and when to be.

Watching Martins and Clint combine is just a joy; it was even more pronounced on that postage stamp of a field.

Also not for nothing, but Petrescu is a terrible ref. Inconsistent with calls and too quick to pull cards.

I am generally not a fan of the somebody needs to get fired this this backlash that occurs with various subjects, but I do like this one:

This douche defended the F right in the P stupidity and made an ass out of himself and now he has been fired. Good job Canada.

Gareth Bale is going to hear it from the Madridistas now.

It's going to suck when he's killing it for ManU next year.

Its not so much the expectations as it is the relentless ass-kissing that will come his way with good performances at the U20 WC. ESPN/FS1 will hype him up far beyond what's reasonable for a guy with zero senior team appearances for Arsenal.

It's gone a long way toward derailing Julian Green. We (read, not us literally but collectively) should probably watch whatever happens with an objective eye and remember that for every Luis Suarez/Pato/Cavani at the U20's, there's a Danny Szetela.

Will you indulge me a semi-dumb soccer question?

We got tickets to see the US team play in KC in July in a Gold Cup match. Doesn't look like MLS is taking a break for that. Will they pull their best team from the MLS rosters for these matches? And related, how much does the national team care about the Gold Cup?

Yep, they will have their best team. The Gold Cup is very important towards us playing in the Confederation Cup in 2017 in Russia as a prep for the WC.
