I think they've been gifted a really easy path to the final. If I'm not mistaken, they won't leave the cooler, southern part of Brazil until the semifinal. They'll also pretty much have homefield advantage down there.

Ronaldo is a more complete athlete, but Messi is more unstoppable on the dribble, is better with both feet and is much better at the intangible skill of finding the ball in the right places rather than drifting in and out of the game or forcing it by dropping into bad spots like Ronaldo. Messi is less of a diva too.

 

This is like arguing between Durant and LeBron, it's nit-picking at the world's two best players and it's close, but I think Messi makes a good team greater than Ronaldo, and I love Ronaldo.
