I would love Argentina to win.

People need to recognize Messi's greatness and dumb people apparently need you to lift a World Cup trophy to recognize greatness.

Also, Maradona can then fade into history in the Argentine consciousness.

I'm good with all of this. Also would love to see a European team win on SA soil. I'm not going to be that picky.

Also [expletive] Mexico!!!

Bit of US news.

Sky is reporting that Everton, West Ham and Villa have interest in John Brooks. He has interest in Germany and Spain but apparently he wants to move to the EPL.

Benny Feilhaber has interest from Club America and Cruz Azul.

Bedoya has interest from Marseilles.

I guess my post was lost in the closing of the actual World Cup thread:

In 2010, ESPN had a dedicated World Cup app with live radio for all games, gamecasts, etc. I thought it was very good. This year, that doesn't seem to exist, and I'm listening on the ESPN Radio app--which is not as good as the dedicated app. Any suggestions or other options? (And why no dedicated app this time?)

Are you talking about web or mobile? My memory from 2010 was pulling up the normal ESPN radio app on my work computer to listen to the games, so if it's web/desktop it may just be worse experience from ESPN radio in general.

I missed the replay, but didn't Oscar basically toe poke it off-stride? Those are really tough to react to.

He did toe poke it. Just seemed like a ball he should have saved based on where he started, how far out it was and that he had a clear view. Not a Robert Green type mistake by any means.

I found a Youtube video of every goal from the 2010 World Cup last night. It was a great reminder of how great the entire tournament is. Bad news was it reminded me that Ghana advanced from their group without a single goal from the run of play.

Yes, but for the second time, the GK had feet of stone.

That's why I asked, because slow reaction time is much more understandable with the way that Oscar shot the ball. You have to take your stutter/hop steps sometime to stay on the balls of your feet, and the off-stride step is the best time to do it. Oscar shot it then instead and placed it well, so I don't really blame him for not getting to that ball.

The PK though, oof. Two hands on the ball that hit him nearly in the wrists, got to finish that save.

Yep, that's true, I just don't give him the benefit of the doubt because of how he looked on the first goal.
