Amado Guevara just picked up a yellow for shooting Cuau and will miss the Oct match against the 'Nats.

 

Mexico win. We need only one result in our last two now to qualify.

Three ways to clinch on Matchday 9:

 

1. USA win

2. Costa Rica loss

3. USA draw AND Costa Rica draw

I thought all USA needed to clinch a spot was a draw in either of the next 2 games.

 

A draw would put the USA at 17 points, and Costa Rica has 12 points, so if they won their last 2 and USA drew and lost, and Mexico and Honduras both end up with more than 17 points (Mexico has 15, Honduras 13), then USA would still finish 4th. If USA draws to finish with 17, and Costa Rica fails to win 1 of their 2 last games, the most points they can end up with is 16.

 

The US ends with Honduras and Costa Rica. If they draw CR then CR can't get to 17, and if they draw Honduras the most Honduras can get is 17. So they guarantee at least a tie with a draw.

 

Honduras currently leads us in GD by 1 though right now. A CR draw vs. T&T would be perfect.

Yossi Benayoun. That is all.

 

I said last year that he should be in their starting XI, and he has not disappointed. He now has 9 goals in his last 10 league games, and could have had a 4th today as he had one called back but I think that he was onside.

Paul Scholes might be one of the clumsiest tackers in the world. Two stupid tackles, the first of which could have been a straight red with the right ref on the field, and got sent off.

The Arsenal backline have me worried. I want to see this game looking at the gamecast. 60% possession throughout the game outshot City 23-10. Still the first 5 games might be the toughest stretch throughout the season for them, and I was hoping for 10 points after 5. I think they could do better than Almunia, though he probably isn't really the problem. They should be able to go on a nice run for the next month or two in the league.

Definitely. All four goals were pretty nice. No cheapies in that game.

RSL v Chicago...RSL fighting for a playoff spot, down 1-0 at the half end up tying...but the last 10 minutes were a shooting gallery. Movsisyan hit the post on a cracker and Fire keeper made two fantastic saves late.

Read a story on it while at work today and watched the EPL Review Show today and Adebayor is a classless prick.

 

He steps on/kicks van Persie and then celebrates his goal by running all the way down the field to the Arsenal section of the stands. After the game he gives some BS apology and now he says he doesn't deserve to get suspended. What a joke.

That was the first I had seen the highlights of the game. He's going to get suspended, and based on the highlights he had a hell of a game too. Craig Bellamy is going to be the difference maker for City this year if they win anything. Adebayor said he went to apologize to van Persie after the game, but he wanted no part of it. I wonder if Hughes will even play him at Emirates next year, he is going to have a huge target on his back if he does.

futbol. The FA "Football Association" in England uses those terms to discipline players.

I don't mind if he only gets a fine for the celebration but he should get at least a couple games for trying to kick van Persie in the face.

Thomas Muller, the young Bayern Munich striker, scored 2 at the weekend and 2 today. He is a seriously, seriously good young player. He's got it all. I don't think it's out of the question to group him with Pato, Aguero and the like in terms of special young forwards.

Arsenal give up two in the first 5 minutes and are stilll down 2-0. So far they have had 70% of the possession and only managed 3 shots in almost 40 minutes.

Arsenal take the lead in the 82nd minute. The 2nd goal they had was complete crap, CONCACAF referee quality goal. They put a lot of pressure the last 20 minutes and you could tell that another goal was coming when they were down 2-1.

I'm not sure if it was a free preview or something but Directv had a ton of free, Europa league games on today in HD. They even had a game mix channel to take them all in. All they games were on channels in the 460s.

 

They did it for the Champions League which is awesome, so I am guessing/hoping it will remain free for the remainder of the year.
