I wonder what the odds are on MLS fining Beckham for his horsecrap inciting-move last night.

Props to LA's Riot Squad for representing last night.

I'll be suprised if he actually gets fined. MLS doesn't have the balls.

Steven Goff[/url]"]Insider loyalists have known for a week that this was in the works, and now it's official: The USA-Mexico World Cup qualifier Aug. 12 at Azteca will be shown exclusively on Telemundo (Spanish) and mun2 (Telemundo-operated English cable outlet). No ESPN, no NBC (which owns Telemundo), no Fox Soccer Channel.

From the Telemundo press release:

Coverage of the game on mun2 will be called "Showdown at the Azteca." mun2, the lifestyle cable network for bicultural Latinos 18-34, recently surpassed 31 million U.S. households in national distribution, and offers popular series that include "The Chicas Project," "18 and Over," and "Reventon Countdown." Coverage will begin at 3:55 p.m. Eastern, 12:55 p.m. Pacific on mun2. The network will offer exclusive game announcers, graphics and English-language feed for this novel television event.

"Deportes Telemundo has unparalleled experience in producing major international soccer events for U.S. audiences," said Jorge Hidalgo, Telemundo executive and a nearly 30-year veteran of soccer production. "The expertise of our soccer production team will make this a must-see event in any language for soccer fans across the country."

Wonderful. Not only do I have to record it and watch it later, but the commentary will also be in spanish.

I have mun2 with the directv sports package.

I'll just watch it on Telemundo. Those guys give El Tri such stick, it will be glorious to watch if we take a lead on them.

Really? I have the sports package and it doesn't even show that channel 410 exists. From what I've read, it's only available on the spanish language package.

Everton signed another American: posting.php?mode=reply&f=44&t=34835

Wake Forest striker Cody Arnoux is set to join the American revolution at Everton.

Arnoux, pictured above (right) during his trial at Everton in March, is set to sign a contract with the Liverpool-based club today, making him the second American player to join Everton this summer. Midfielder Anton Peterlin, pictured on the left, signed earlier this month.

SBI first reported Arnoux's decision to leave Wake Forest on Wednesday, and now the All-American forward will be joining U.S. national team goalkeeper Tim Howard with the Toffees. Arnoux and Peterlin are expected to be with Everton when the club faces the MLS All-Star Team on July 29th in Utah.

Just finished the match. Nice 2nd half attack from the US towards the end. Their service and movement has been impressive, but unfortunately, their finishing still looks like that of the young squad that they are.

Yeah, we should have buried them well earlier than the 89th minute.

I'm impressed that our D team has made it to the finals, but really it's just a testament to the load of crap they've faced so far. Beating Honduras' B team is nice, though.

Costa Rica is taking it to Mexico right now. CR is a pretty good side.

Sven-Goran Eriksson to manage Notts County, the oldest league club side in the world (est. 1862)

They also haven't won anything since 1894 (the FA cup) - and Cub fans complain about a drought.

http://soccerconfidential.blogspot.com/2009/07/donovan-deal-would-set-mls-record.html

AS Livorno plans to offer 10 million euros for the Los Angeles Galaxy's Landon Donovan, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, which would break the MLS transfer record. Striker Jozy Altidore went from the New York Red Bulls to Villareal for $10 million last year.

Donovan would finish the season with the Galaxy, then join Livorno during the December transfer session.

Livorno also hopes to add Houston midfielder Ricardo Clark and expects an announcement by Saturday.

MLS should take that. Thats a good size offer for a newly promoted team.

MLS fines Beckham $1,000. It's like getting a $1 speeding ticket.

Good on MLS. Its the principle of the thing, not the amount.
