I'm so pissed. I'm trying to take solace in the fact that this might be the best possible thing to happen to get us a win in Azteca.

Yeah, link to the twitters because I follow Jozy, Charlie Davies, Gooch, Adu and I haven't seen anything too negative yet.

nevermind, the bigsoccer posts were probably bs. Davies' was mellow and Sacha's wasn't that bad either.

I'm still pretty embarrassed right now. Losing is one thing; getting asswaxed like that is different.

And of course all the US supporters got some beer and popcorn showers on the way out.

I hate Mexican fans more than any other in sports. there are some that are fine, but the others take the cake. I just hope either Bradley or Onyewu knock the piss out of Gio in a couple of weeks.

Thinking a bit more about it, the team basically panicked after Mexico took the lead. Even though there was still a half hour left in the game, it felt as if they thought they had to get an equalizer ASAP, which wasn't the case since there was plenty of time left. That led to the three/four odd man breaks for Mexico in the next couple minutes, they took advantage and they got a second goal. Rinse, repeat and Mexico gets a third and the game is over.

But because of how we reacted, the game was over after the first goal.

NBC is offering mun2 as a free preview on August 12 for all DirecTV and Dish Network subscribers. Not sure about cable carriers. Edited by wolf stansson

The broadcast team is Phil Schoen from Gol (aka the best American pbp guy) and Marcelo Balboa. Harkes is my guy so I'd say a Schoen-Harkes would be the best American combo, but Balboa isn't bad.

ESPN also has an on-site pre and post show with Bob Ley (why?) and Alexi Lalas.

Milan Announce Rossi Swoop, Later Retract.

AC Milan's official website reportedly announced the signing of Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi on Monday, before the story rapidly disappeared again.

The San Siro giants are actively seeking a new recruit up-front, with Leonardo's side having already failed to sign Wolfsburg goal-machine Edin Dzeko, former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor and Sevilla hit-man Luis Fabiano.

Sounds to me like Villarreal agreed to a price and then United blocked it with their first buy back clause. I don't think it's a great move for Milan anyway. He and Pato play the same second-striker position and Pato plays it better. Milan needs a target.

If they are spending money to send people to Mexico, why didn't they just buy the rights to air the game?

That's a difference in cost of a couple million dollars.

Rico Clark to Livorno in January is apparently on. Livorno's site is reporting.

Also, Benny scored against Randers: lites, MOTM Interview.

I love Benny highlights because they're always hd and it sounds like the chef from the muppet show is doing pbp.

Not that he's a target player, but Jozy would like nice in red and black...

Clearly. They'll also be generating some ad revenue by airing it. I'm more or less surprised ESPN is covering the match with additional coverage. They've shown a tendency to ignore or provide very minimal coverage of things they don't air. They recognize the significance of the game but didn't want to spend the money on picking its rights, I just find it a little surprising considering they air most of the rest of the USMNT's WC qualifiers.

Yeah, you're right. It seems like a slam dunk considering they seem to have set themselves up to be the spot for US MNT games. I've heard some conflicting stuff regarding the price. ABC whispers that they were asking for an exorbitant price and NBC whispers that it was reasonable and ABC didn't try to buy it.

Supposedly it was payback for bidding on the Olympics combined with a desire to plug Mun2. Given ESPN's balls out WC coverage they have planned next summer, I'm a bit surprised they just didn't ante up anyway, high price or not.

So is Champions League going to be on Fox Sports networks or just FSC? I was thinking no HD, but keep seeing the ads on Fox sports southwest.

The exact schedule hasn't been set, but it will be spread out through FX, the regional networks and FSC. FSC will upgrade to HD in time for the knock out round. I don't know if previous to that the regional networks will have it in HD. I do know that the final will be on FX with an option to upgrade to Fox if it doesn't conflict with anything and ratings call for it.

Xavi has put in a transfer request, and it looks like Real will be adding yet another player. They seriously put the Yankees to shame, and I hope everything possible goes wrong. I would ask for Sneijder in return if I was Liverpool.

Lots of dead scottish soccer players.

Former Motherwell footballer Paul McGrillen has been found dead in his home, it has emerged.

Police confirmed the body of the 37-year-old was discovered at his home in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, on Wednesday night.

The striker was a member of the Motherwell squad that won the Scottish Cup in 1991, although he did not play in the final.

McGrillen is the fourth member of the Motherwell squad of that era to have died.

Winger Davie Cooper died at the age of 39 in 1995 after suffering a brain haemorrhage while filming a children's coaching show for TV.

Former team mate Phil O'Donnell died after collapsing during a match against Dundee United in 2007 at the age of 35.

And last year 39-year-old former Motherwell midfielder Jamie Dolan died of a heart attack while out jogging.

Sad news.

He was a good man, Bobby Robson, and its been saddening to see his decline over the last few years.

His Ipswich team of the 1980s were tremendous, and the 1990 vintage England were pretty nifty too.
