At Sideline Views, Luis Bueno called it trading two shiny quarters for a wrinkled $10 bill. I like that.

This trade likely saved Chad Barrett's life, if you think about it.

Blanco was probably near killing him for missing sitter after sitter.

It looks like Robbie Keane to Liverpool is almost done according to English papers. Great move, I think him and Torres up front will be a great pairing. Also ManU is set to make Tevez the highest buy ever in the EPL at 32 million.

Well there is reports that they are going after Villa, so they could replace one of them with him which would be a good move.

http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/07/cooper-headed-t.html#more

Kenny Cooper is headed back to England, well, sort of.

Cooper is on the verge of making a transfer move to Welsh club Cardiff City, which plays in England's Coca-Cola Championship First Division, sources with knowledge of the transfer told SBI on Monday. The transfer fee is between $3 and $4 million.

Cooper traveled to Wales on Monday to finalize contract negotiations with Cardiff City, which finished 6th in the English First Division last season, and sources tell SBI that the sides are finalizing the contract, which would clear the way for the transfer to be completed.

The deal would end a tug-of-war between Cardiff City and Norwegian power Rosenborg, which had been the favorites to land Cooper initially.

Cooper returns to English soccer some three years after leaving Manchester United and signing with FC Dallas. He has notched 11 goals and three assists for the Hoops this season and has recorded 26 goals and nine assists in 63 matches for FC Dallas.

Cardiff City, which reached the FA Cup final before losing to Portsmouth last spring, will call on Cooper to help replace English legend Robbie Fowler and Dutch forward Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink.

I think it is the right decision for Cooper, who would have the chance to play one level below the Premier League, with a chance to help Cardiff City gain promotion, or earn himself a transfer to an established team in the English Premier League.

What do you think about Cooper going to Cardiff City? Is it a good move? Should he have gone to Rosenborg instead? Should he stay in MLS?

Bob Bradley still doesn't know Kenny Cooper exists...

I almost feel like we have to wait till after 2010 to get rid of Bradley.

Another one wasted.

Also, there is now officially no reason for you to ever go to an FC Dallas game.

Which is too bad considering they have a S.S.S. and no one to fill it. It's a waste of a market.

And a waste of a potentially great market given the size of DFW, and the huge Latin market. They don't seem to care about getting a big name here, and have a great facility too in one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Frisco is a great area to live.

Everything is brand new, went from a population of about 5,000 in 2000 to almost 40,000 now. Right next to Plano and about 10 miles away from Dallas and McKinney which is another booming area of about 100,000 people. Younger families and close to all of the corporate headquaters in Plano. I think the avg. family income is between $90-100K. Once the finish the construction on tollway 121 it will ease up on traffic. The mall there is huge which draws a lot of traffic right now. They used to have the highest retail dollars per capita in the US a couple of years ago, might still have that.

I love the area, the only places better to live in Dallas the housing market in those areas is insane (like parts of Plano, Southlake, and Westlake). Great area to invest in a house.

Cooper transfer is off. I'm torn. I don't think Bradley will take him seriously until he goes to Europe, which is funny because I'm usually a Euro snob, but Bradley takes it to a new level calling up people like Josh Wolff and Eddie Johnson over Ante Razov or Cooper.

I want Cooper to go to Europe, but I like Dallas holding on to him until the January window because I think MLS needs his American star power for now.

Tottenham had a real shot this year, but with no Keane and no Berbatov I'm not seeing it.

They still have Darren Bent and at the moment still have Berbatov. Ramos is really looking to bring in his own squad, though, if you believe even half the transfer rumors about Spurs - Bentley from Blackburn being the latest. The problem for Tottenham is that Liverpool have definitely improved with Torres and Keane together up front. Arsenal still don't seem to have the depth that caused some of their problems last season, but they're obviously talented. So Spurs basically look to be fighting Everton and Aston Villa for 5th, imo. Granted many things can change before the transfer window closes.

This is what blows my mind: It's one thing to sell players for a profit and invest in players Ramos wants to put his own fingerprint on it; it's another thing altogether to sell those players to the teams you want to unseat. Making Liverpool and Man U better is not what Tottenham and Aston Villa should be doing.

the bottom line is that until they figure out how to refurbish or replace White Hart Lane, Tottenham will need to continue doing this, because they simply don't get the revenue from their home ground that the big teams do.

They are also rumoured to be after Andrej Arsjavin (now with Zenit St-Petersburg)

I watched this at the end of New England's Super Liga semifinal win over Atlante.

As always, stay classy, Mexican soccer.

Words really can't express my hatred towards mexican soccer and their players and their fans. There are some that are ok, but because they are almost considered to be a part of South American culture they almost seem to get away with it. If something like this happened in England FIFA would jump all over it. Down in Mexico, its become way to accepted. Mexican Hooligans >>>> English Hooligans.

Just an fyi to you US MNT fans who don't follow MLS very closely, Kenny Cooper should be our starting center forward.

He scored twice in Toronto this weekend and is tied with Cakes for the league lead with 13.

He not only scores, but scores with some remarkable class for as big a guy as he is. He and Altidore could work very, very nicely off each other.

Video from this weekend. Not mesmerizing stuff, one was a pk, one was kind of a howler from the keeper (it was nice to see an American unafraid to have a go from distance though), but Cooper has been showing flashes of Luca Toni in MLS this year. The non-move to Cardiff was a blessing in disguise, because come January this guy is going to find himself in top flight football. If he isn't called up for the next qualifier, then f Bob Bradley.
