Oh my god I'm pissed. After that goal, you start to think about the missed chances. If Holden would've crossed it to Sacha...

God dammit.

From minute 30 to minute 90 we were head and shoulders the better team over the two-time U-20 European champs. I felt we could get a result, but giving away a win and an automatic spot in the quarter finals is a heart breaker. That [expletive] Dutch coach and his "average players" blast knows he just got very, very lucky and as much as they'll probably try to sell it as an under performance by the Dutch, we were the better, faster, stronger and more organized side today. Marvell Wynne ran Royston Drenthe ragged. He didn't look Madrid quality. Babel's goal was a lucky rebound after a fantastic save by Guzan. DeGuzman didn't do a thing. Adu was cutting through their defense.

Going forward, Jozy needs to play 90. All there is to it. I said it before this game and it's a shame Nowak didn't do it.

-------------------Guzan---------------------

--Wynne----Edu----Parkhurst----Orozco--

--Holden--Kljestan--Feilhaber--Szetela--

------------McBride---Altidore-------------

That formation can get it done against an also depleted Nigerian side.

Unless Nowak goes 4-5-1 thinking he can get a draw that way, I'm inclined to agree with your formation.

BTW, what's up with Marvelle Wynne looking like an international prospect? He's not been on my radar for a while, but in these two games he's been very good.

If he puts together some good decision making on when to get forward and some good crosses, that boy has some unbelievable speed as a right back. He seriously had two steps on Drenthe all game, who is supposedly Holland's burner.

I like the idea of his athleticism in our back four. Right now our senior team's defense really lacks anyone who's a good athlete. If he improves his touch (which can be improved) and, like you said, learns how to read the game as far as going forward, he's going to be intruiging.

Hahahaha

Alexei Lalas = fired.

Ruud Gullit = resigned.

Landon Donovan = wants out to England.

David Beckham = what the hell did I get myself into.

Good times, super club.

Lots of action today.

Pursuing Feilhaber

Through e-mails, phone calls and text messages, I've been following USA midfielder Benny Feilhaber's situation closely the last few days -- not his status with the Olympic team in China, but his future employer.

Now I can tell you what club is aggressively chasing him: AGF Aarhus of Denmark. Derby County would be more than happy to let him go on a free transfer because it would mean dumping his salary. Aarhus already has one American (forward Jeremiah White) and just signed a Guatemalan (defender Gustavo Cabrera).

One source with strong European ties says Aarhus is very serious about signing him at the conclusion of the Olympics.

Denmark is certainly not England, but given Feilhaber's dead-end situation with Derby and seemingly lukewarm interest in him elsewhere on the continent, what do you think of a possible move to Aarhus?

Whatever. This whole season has been a huge disappointment. I really, really had high hopes for Benny after last summer. I still watch him play with the Nats and think he is a very good player but not getting a game at Derby is bad.

Gooch Nets two off set pieces.

Boca plays 90, but his team gives up 4.

CROWN JEWEL OF MLS.

Seriously, though, Lalas is a wank who should never have been given the opportunity to run his third team into the ground.

Piotr Nowak is the leading candidate for the Galaxy job as per Ives Galarcep.

I've never been a Nowak fan, but he has impressed me in the Olympic run. I still wouldn't mind getting him out of the USS system.

If he can't figure out a way to get a result v Nigeria (even without Adu and Bradley) he should be sacked.

And by sacked I mean forced into a sack, beaten with soap and tossed into the Yalu River.

Seriously. You have Jozy. Szetela. Benny. McBride. Holden and Rogers. You should be able to draw.

Glad to see you still have high standards. I'm so scared before every USS game that I just convince myself to be happy with a good effort.

I'd love to see him go to the Galaxy on the merit of how hilarious it would be to see his stubborn ass yelling at Beckham and his handlers for mailing it in.

If it's not him, it'll be Arena and I won't be able to watch that fellating joke fest between he and Beckham's nuts without getting really pissed off.

Nowak in LA would be a stitch. I could see him doing something stupid like benching Landon and getting torched for it.

Then again, Arena+Beckham+Buddle=high comedy.

And yeah, I have high standards for this group. The Sachca/Jozy/Adu generation is talented, and if we ever get a technical mind in charge of them, great things could happen. And Nigeria isn't Argentina. They don't have two of their better players, and I honestly believe that we have the skill level with this roster to beat them.

I truthfully expect a top 4 finish in the next 3 World Cups with this group. We have too much talent coming to fail, and too much money invested in the product.

I meant within, not in each of the next 3. I realized I wrote that a little funny.
