Great second goal all around by Spain as Guiza has a good touch past the Russian goalkeeper. 2-0 Spain now and they're 17 minutes away from the final.

No late drama in this match as Silva nets one on a counter in the 82nd minute.

David Villa is out with an injury for the final.

Tommy Smyth made a comment after the game that Spain wasn't going to win the final if Villa didn't play but the last time I checked, Spain scored three goals today and played their best soccer after Villa was out. It will hurt, certainly, but it's not as if Fabregas or Guiza, when he comes in, are scrubs.

Spain's gonna win, though hopefully not in PK's.

this pre-game ceremony is brutal

From the live commentary on soccernet:

Just when you thought this was going to go down in history as one of the finest finals of recent times the organisers go and plop Enrique Iglesias on a stage and give him a microphone. All of a sudden the footballing world glazes over. Well, that's it from me, I'm going home. A disgrace.

Great goal from Torres. I'm not even sure how he got a foot on that ball as it looked like the German defender had position on him.

EDIT: The defender was Lahm and that was one horrendous piece of defending. And the chip from Torres was so sick.

I don't think there is a German alive who can keep up with Torres. That was a greatly deserved goal for the hardest worker on the pitch so far.

Ballack appears to be on a mission to foul every single Spanish player today. Gamecast has Germany committing 10 fouls today and five of them have to be by Ballack.

Torres certainly earned it but it seemed as if Lahm thought Lehmann was going to get to the ball and eased up a bit which allowed Torres to get in there. It just seemed as if Lahm didn't know exactly how close Torres was. He should have gotten a body on Torres, didn't, and payed for it.

Lahm seemed clueless or thought Torres wouldn't be able to pass him the way he did. I think I have counted 4 runs by Torres where he has given them absolute fits, and all on balls that 99% of the pros in the world would not even try for or work for.
