Hill shouldn't worry about this one at all. From what people were saying that his stuff was not top notch, he did a pretty decent job of limiting the damage until that home run-he'll learn from that. This isn't a great positive outing for him, but I don't think it should really be viewed as too much of a negative either.

Wuertz never seems to do well when he inherits runners.

He's worst on the Cubs in that area this year. Last year, however, he was pretty good at preventing inherited runs. He's just not as clutch this year.

Just looking at Jones' hit chart, it's interesting that most of his HR's at Wrigley have been oppo.

Rockies announcers say they think Jones has struggled in Chicago because guys who have gap power suddenly think they're homerun hitters when they start playing games at Wrigley.

Since when did Pierre even have gap power?

Pierre has back of the infield power, maybe.

Speaking of power, Neifi Perez is about to pinch hit. Neifi Perez, one of the worst offensive players in baseball history, is the first pinch hitter off the bench.

And Neifi - still one of the worst offensive players of all-time - hits a ground rule double.

B/c it hopped over the fence, Ronny has to go back to 3rd.

Neifi can't even do extra base hits right.

I don't think that was a great spot for your best pinch hitter in Murton-I would have liked somebody else for Neifi, but I think that was not a spot to waste a good pinch hitter.

Our best pinch hitter is Z, not Murton.

If only we still had Macias...

4-3.

Pierre, like Ernie Banks, loves to play baseball and is a hard worker. He'd probably do better next year if he returns as a Cub because he's figuring out that he's not a home run hitter.

Rockies broadcast team obsessing over the size of Novoa's hands.

These guys talk about every pitcher like he's Koufax and every hitter like he's Ted Williams.

Ken Mercker wouldn't be calling the booth on these two.

Non-critical announcers = Cubs win.

The Rockie announcers actually think Jones has struggled? He's pretty much hit to expectations. Maybe they've confused Jacque Jones with Gary Sheffield. Although Jock's numbers would be a hell of a lot better if Dusty came to his senses and sat him against left handers.

PS: The 49ers are going all the way this year. 17-0 Niners.

Wow! Todd Hollandsworth just made a great catch in RF to prevent a loss to the Phillies in the 13th inning. On to the 14th they go tied 5-5.

Fun game. The glogs on sportsline can be pretty funny.

Fun fact: the Cubs are 16th in MLB in batting average, but dead last in runs. Thus far, they're outhitting the Rockies, but losing the game. How does such a thing happen, Jim Hendry?

You know the answer: clutch hitting (or lack thereof).
