While I appreciate the Bears' info, posting the full-text of articles from a pay site is probably not the best idea.

Agreed. Please post snippets or summaries of the articles only.

Will do in the future. I didn't remember that rule. My apologies.

I believe Grossman would have broken out last year. Just some of the stuff I saw from him the year before, like the Minnesota game before he got hurt, and the Green Bay game at the beginning of the season.

He may not be tall, but he seems like a fighter. Hopefully he'll stay healthy so we can find out what he's really all about in a 16 game schedule. You never know what the grind will do to a player...

A little overly positive in my opinion. The guy just wrote down every glowing statement made by the coaching staff. Don't get me wrong, I like the Bears chances, and this guy makes some good points. But not everything is going to go as well as he makes it out to be, otherwise this team is going 19-0.

Can we get a hundred thousand comparisons to the 1985 Bears again this year please? We just didn't get enough of that last year....or in 2001...

Bears camp overview from Fox Sports.

John Clayton should be posting a Bears camp report later today on ESPN also.

Here's the above mentioned report. They decided to cover both the Bears and Panthers on the same day, and gave the Panthers the main story... :P

Clayton also posted an internet article on the Bears where he was basically gushing over the team. He was quite impressed, calling the Bears the obvious favorite in the division and mentioning how impressive Benson and Berrian looked.

I was suprised ESPN even sent someone to Bourbonnais. They've had their entire crew in Dallas since TC started.

Why can't the Cubs think like the Bears?

"It gives me a lot of hope going to a team that doesn't look at you as a rookie, but a player," Hester said after Thursday's practice. "The ones who fit the system best get the job.

"It's not a program where they look at you as a rookie and think you have to hold out for two or three years to get developed in the system. All the coaches have told me if you're good enough, they're going to give you the opportunity to make plays."

"You look at our history, and it'll always be that way," Smith said. "I know I've always been this way as a coach. How can you look a guy in the eye and tell him, 'You're the best player, but I'm not going to play you because you're young'? The group that gives us the best chance to win is who we'll have on the field."

I realize that the NFL is very different...but I'd like to see a little of that creep into the Cubs philosophy.

Hendry would determine his QB based on who had the best 4th quarters.

He also never would've released Chad Hutchinson.

Tidbits on yesterday's practice:

Rex Grossman had been a little wild as of late, but the former Gator was very sharp in passing drills and enjoyed perhaps his best day yet. The Manning Brothers, free agent signee Ricky and rookie 2nd-rounder Danieal, are looking fantastic.

Rex Grossman claims he’s been overly aggressive on purpose in passing drills the last few days, which supposedly explains how many balls he’s had intercepted. But today is not one of those days, as the Bears starter has been picking apart the first team defense all afternoon. He completes two long corner routes along the right side before threading the needle to Desmond Clark down the seam for a big gain. Grossman did a beautiful job of pump-faking right in order to give Clark just a little more separation in the middle of the field. And when the longer throws haven’t been open, he’s progressed through his reads quickly and hit Cedric Benson out in the flat, although his tailback did finally drop one.

Ricky Manning Jr. is put together like a Mack truck. His biceps have to be twice as big as his calves. But the offense is quickly learning that he’s more than just an intimidating physical specimen. He’s fast enough to run with anyone on the outside, and he’s plenty strong to handle tight ends and running backs in coverage. The other member of the Manning Brothers, rookie safety Danieal, came up with another big INT today and continues to make an immediate impact.

This is starting to become awfully redundant, but Bernard Berrian looks terrific once again. He’s the primary target today with Moose getting some R-and-R, and he is all over the place. Quick outs, curls on the hash marks, deep throws to the corner. Just everywhere. Ladies and gentlemen, the Bears may have found their #2 receiver.

Lesser tidbits are that Currie is still injured and has a good chance of not making the team. Chris Harris has been dropping interceptions.

Mods, is this a better format? Please advise.

This type of redundancy is welcome all season long. :D

Yes; the key is that you're just posting parts of the article, not the entire article.

Maybe the Bears knew what they were doing? Clark is having a great camp. Again, DB depth this year is great. If either Manning has to start for the Bears, there won't be much dropoff.

ChicagoBears.com had a story about how Clark isn't as fat or slow anymore. Almost in those words, too...and it was the main story.

From what I saw when I was down there, it looks to be true. He looks great---and he caught everything thrown his way. I was impressed.

Manning Jr. also impressed me. He laid a smack on Benson that sent chills up my spine. All reports since say the guy is looking great.

My least impressive guys? Griese and Orton. And Currie. I suppose we shouldn't expect much from Currie. He last until what? The 5th round? Scouts know what they're doing for the most part. And Orton---I think he's just losing his focus because he's been demoted to 3rd string.

Benson was carted off the practice field tonight with supposedly a shoulder injury resulting from a Brown and Urlacher hit.

At first I thought the reports of the defense hitting Benson extra hard were just media hype. After this, I've lost a lot of respect for them.

I just saw an interview with both of them, no remorse either.

Paraphrasing:

urlacher: "i dunno what i happened, i hit him and next thing i knew he wasnt going back to the huddle, he was just laying there"

brown: "its unfortunate, but it happens, we gotta forget about it."

I can fully understand why they don't like him, but he's the starting RB, and he's incredibly talented, and could bring a whole new dimension to this offense. This crap is ridiculous.

With all of these glowing reports coming out from so many key positions, I was just waiting for something like this to happen... hopefully it doesn't snowball like it usually does. :(
