I simply cannot believe it! I watched the game tonight and I saw who was going to be coming up in the 9th and knew that if just one guy got on base Ortiz would get a chance to tie it up - I can hardly believe he won another one.

Say what you will, and argue the numbers if you want, but if you've watched the guy as much as I have the last 2 years, it really IS UNCANNY the number of times he comes through to win games!!

It's a real tossup this year to decide who is the Red Sox MVP - Ortiz or Papelbon. One ends games with his bat and the other with his arm.

Ortiz has produced, alone, 27% of Boston's offense. That's incredible. His runs created/27 number has a chance of surpassing that of the Bonds greatest offensive season in the history of the game.

I think I ccan speak for the 99 percent of the almost intelligent world by saying "I hate the nickname "Big Papi"

Meh. Doesn't really bother me.

Then again, I'm not almost intelligent. :)

I see nothing wrong w/ the nickname "Big Papi"

His nickname is Papi, and he's big, so Big Papi is perfectly fine. Same w/ Zambrano. His nickname is Z, and he's big. Big Z makes sense

As long as it's pronounced correctly (As in Pahhhpee) I think it's very appropriate - it's when morons like Chris Burman call him Big "Pap-eee" (rhyme with crappy) that I can't stand it!!!

Why would you pitch to him?

Because Manny Ramirez hits behind him. Pick your poison. As a pitcher, you're just kind of screwed in that situation.

The Kruker did come up with an interesting solution though. He said to walk both of them in that situation and hope Lowell grounds into a DP. Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that's why he's on tv right? Because he's brilliant.

How about Ortiz? He just hit another walk-off 3R homer for the Red Sox with 2 on and 1 out in the bottom of the 9th.

I hate the Red Sox and all those stupid teenagers wearing pre-faded "B" hats.

I want to kill them all.

Do you hate the Yankees caps that come out in 3854 different colors and worn by everybody because it's fashionable and the hat matches the persons wardrobe? Because that is WAY more obnoxious than pre-faded "B" hats. I'm sure a majority of people wearing "B" hats are actually Boston fans.

Haha, yeah...

I saw some jerkoff wearing a Tombstone (as in the pizza) hat today, and I was like "I'ma put you under a tombstone if you don't take that hat off!"

I WANT TO KILL ALL THOSE GUYS!!

Thought this was funny from Bill Simmons...

"...the Big Papi gimmick is slightly more unique, especially when you consider that "Papi" is a Latino phrase of endearment that women use for their husbands or lovers and has, umm, romantic connotations."
