was neifi a late inning defensive replacement last night? i only saw the nifty play he made to end the game.

/too lazy to look at yesterdays game thread

Nope, played SS and switched to 2B in the 9th (even though Walker's D probably was the reason they won).

This is an example of why I think Rothschild stinks. Now, maybe he requested the bullpen get ready at the start of the inning and Baker nixed it, but based off of the fifth inning, why wasn't the bullpen started at the end of the fifth?

I'm constantly surprised that they don't seem to anticipate when a reliever might be needed.

God bless America, seven freakin' walks.

Hey, as long as you have electric stuff it doesn't matter if you throw strikes. Or that seems to be what our GM loves.

anyone else sensing a successful double steal coming, all set up by that stupid pitchout by Marmol?

well if I were LaRussa I woulda done it.

I was thinking about starting a thread about how Maddux's trade value has plummeted thanks to the mistaken notion that he is anything but a 5-6 inning pitcher.

You would've had the double steal on when you're down 3 runs?

novoa seems to do well against the cards.

had a good game at busch, with a big hit (2b or 3b, cant remember) and decent on the mound. this was the game where rolen had at least 1 huge error.

didnt he get the W last niight and only face 1 batter?

I'm going to keep ripping Novoa. He seems to do well when that happens.

That always seems to happen to me as well. I'll rip a guy and say he's a horrible player and then he comes through immediately following my statement.

He might be the one who needs to be convinced of that, since he reportedly usually decided when he's pulled.

not ordinarily, but in that situation I very well may have. good enough speed on, no chance of pitchout, big righty in the box, wildness on the mound, situation that calls for keeping the ball down. and every guess by LaRussa seems to always beat Dusty.

edit - it's not that I really woulda dunnit. I just said the second part because of the DP. tongue in cheek. I think LaRussa does thinks like that and it always seems to beat us.

I don't want another new thread, but Jacque's been brutal this month.

That reminds me, where's that old dude that can't spell anything right but blesses everyone when they say Jacque sucks?

if that's the way it is, the decision should be taken out of his hands.
