Did ayone hear the phone interview with Donald Trump on CLTV today, where he expressed interest in buying the Cubs?

What do y'all think about this?

Me? I'm for it (if the Cubs were for sale). Trump may be the type of guy this team needs in charge.

Seems like that kind of statement is just another way this fame-hound can grab the spotlight for another 15 minutes. It'll certainly put his name in the Chicago papers for a week or so.

This is old news..... remember about 1 or 2 months ago when Mr. Cub himself said he had two groups of investors contact him asking if he was interested in going in on an offer to buy the Cubs.. Trump is a member of one of those groups.

As long as in his first meeting with Dusty and Hendry he utters his famous line...

Usually a new owner wants his own front office. he doesn't want the previous regime's staff, which means MacPhail would likely be canned as well.

Well he's got money and desire, but probably knows little about owning a sports franchise.

Does he really have passion for the game, or for sports in general? I don't know.

Occasionally you see at the Yankees games especially the playoffs. He just looks bored out of his mind when the put the camera on him. But, boredom is the price you have to pay in order to be seen.

Donald Trump said the same thing to Mike North on Friday morning.

Here was the really funny part; he said the Cubs have a good management team in place. But it's just that the Cubs have had a run of bad luck.

Yeah, that explains the last 98 years. Just a really, really, really, really, really, really long stretch of bad luck.

The are also owned by a company THE TRIBUNE who doesnt want to cough up what it takes to get players who wont have "bad luck" in here... maybe Trump is willing to do that

im up for anyone owning the team other than the tribune, trump seems to be a owner that would be similar to stienbrenner, he might be a [expletive] but if it brings the cubs a pennant, i could care less

Wait a minute. You two couldn't care less who owns the team, as long as it isn't the Trib?

Isn't that what got us the Trib in the first place?

Let's be a little more selective about our next owner. Please?

Personally I think that as long as its not the tribune..whoever it is will know what it takes to win... and will get the right personell in here to win it all

Wrong. They are more than willing to cough up nearly $100 million, it's their lousy GM and President who don't know how to spend it.

Soul, I think, is saying this was the mentality when the Tribune bought the team...not just anyone is better than whoever owns a team at any given time just because we're tired of them. There are always worse owners. Change isn't automatically for the better. What if they get bought out by someone who thinks they can turn the same profit (fans come out no matter what) with half the payroll? And I'm not saying sticking with the Tribune is the right idea...just trying to get the point across that not anyone who would buy this team would do a better job.

Are you people serious in wanting Trump for owner? The main criticism of the Tribune is that they care about how much money they make, not results. Do you think Trump is any different? Do you think he'd put results over the bottom line? Not a chance.
