Chicago Cubs third base coach Chris Speier was arrested for drunken driving early Wednesday after being pulled over on his motorcycle on Chicago's Near North side, police said.

The incident occurred about 1:40 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Dearborn Street, according to police Officer Kelly Liakopoulos. Speier, 56, was northbound on a motorcycle when a police officer saw him run a stop sign and pulled him over.

Speier was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a stop sign, Liakopoulos said. He remained at the Near North District lockup this morning.

Haha, so hes over at Rush and Division drinking and riding his motorcycle. Good job buddy.

I guess it is better then Wendell Kim, who was often cited as doing his job under the influence.

This ballclub would drive me to drink too.

Especially if I were the only coach that had a clue.

Exactly my thought. Can you imagine having to put up with Dusty, Clines, and Sarge all day. Speier probably feels like he's been taking crazy pills for a few years now.

That said - still doesn't excuse drunken driving.

Perhaps Neifi can take over as the full time 3rd base coach now?

That depends on if he can take his hand away from his crotch long enough to wave the runner in.

byebye only in house option for interim manager. hello Dusty until the end of the year.

I really hate routing for more games like Sunday, but I guess that's what it's going to take, isn't it.

What difference does an interim manager make? It's an interim manager.

Can anybody tell me how Hendry's and Baker's name get thrown into a thread on Speier being an idiot and drinking and driving? Better yet, how is it that some of you already have Speier fired?

Glad no one was crossing an intersection or driving through it since he ran a freaking stop sign.

Because now Spier is gonna take the fall for the team.

Way to go Spier, you idiot. At least he's not setting a bad example for Furcaholic.
