Seriously, WTF happened tonight. I leave with my wife and daughter to have dinner with the Cubs leading 5-2.

Walker raped Novoa.

and Marshall. LOL

No, just Novoa. His first error only cost one run.

Novoa gave up 6 runs but none were earned. However, Marshall gave up 7 runs but only 5 were earned according to Gameday and the argument could be made that if the first ball, Walker booted, was fielded cleanly to begin with, the inning wouldn't have gotten out of hand...

Would the next two batters bloops magically get caught? Oh of course, the wind would have magically shifted for Floyd's pop-fly HR, and 0 runs would have been given up.

The bottom line is you said Walker's first error only cost one run when it actually cost the team two runs and kept the inning going for his magical second error and resultant 6 unearned runs.

Another new low.

This has got to be like the 17th new low of the year. I'm willing to bet we lead the league in 'new lows'.

PS: In case you haven’t heard, the ESPYs are next!

Beltran would have been out = 2 outs.

The next two would have gotten on, and Floyd would have nailed a 3 run HR instead of a grandslam. That's why I said 1 run on that first bobble.

Regardless, this team sucks from top to bottom. Todd Walker is not the reason this team is 21 games under 500. I think of players I'd rather not be playing their position more than TWalk. He had a horrible game today granted, but overall I'm fine with him at 2B.

Just when you think this team couldn't find any more ways to suck in this game, they strike out in order in the bottom of the ninth. The ultimate cherry on top of a sundae of suck. Edited by ToupeeOnFire

My position on Walker hasn't changed all year. 2B is too crucial of a position to have a guy with defensive shortcommings. He does not have enough of an impact bat to outweigh what he lacks on defense. He's actually much more of a liability now that they have cut the grass in the infield.

Wow, 32 pages. Impressive. I wouldn't have expected a game thread to get up that high at this point in the season without at least a semi-super natural occurrence.

Bart: Well, can't you see that's the last act of a desperate man?

Howard Johnson: We don't care if it's the first act of Henry V, we're leaving!

Incorrect. He has been good for 2 wins above what would be expected of a replacement player, and WARP takes defense into account.
