I just thought folks might like to know that Jim Hendry will be on Sports Central tonight on WGN radio at 7:30.

He will take calls.

If you aren't within the listening range of AM720 you should be able to listen online at WGN Radio.com

Enjoy!

P.S. May God, and Cubs fans have mercy on your soul, Jim.

I recommend not listening to this. It is only going to raise your blood pressure and make you want to throw things.

You're right....

Blah blah Blah, give Dusty every chance to turn it around, blah blah blah

He's probably sitting down right now thinking of all the possible questions that might be asked and just preparing answers for them.

Okay, next caller, go ahead.

Caller: Hey thanks for taking my call Mr. Hendry. You've done such a terrific job turning this team around the past 4 years, we know all these unexpected setbacks has hurt the team, but I think a move or two could get this team back into the race. But I just think we're lacking a little team speed and defense. Any plans to maybe get some faster, more atheletic players to light a spark.

Hendry: We never stop looking for players that can help the club, and speed and defense are the two most important factor we're looking at. That being said, we can't make a deal unless somebody else wants to deal, and everybody wants more speed and defense. So it's difficult, but we'll keep looking.

Next caller: Jim, I really don't like the way this team is playing. Nobody is coming up with the big hit. We need more clutch players. I see that Ramon Martinez is hitting almost .400 with RISP and 2 outs. Plus he knows what it takes to play in Chicago, and he's a team guy. Any chance we could see him in Cubby blue again.

Hendry: I can't comment on any specific player, but I can assure you that we're looking to acquire more timely hitters, clutch guys so to speak. So yeah, we're aware of who is out there, but it takes 2 teams to make a trade, so we have to wait until somebody becomes available.

Actually, I was thinking it would be more like something they do in THe Onion like "Ask the student that didn't do the required reading"

Dear student that didn't do the required reading: I don't approve of my daughter's fiance... Should I still go to the wedding?" -mother in Fresno

Dear Mother in Fresno: Tom Sawyer is a story about a time when people were so poor that they didn't wear shirts but just had overalls. ... Tom Sawyer is a Signet Classic in the truest sense of the word. It was well worth the $6.95 purchase price. In fact, if I were in Canada, I'd even pay $7.95.

 that's such a classic. I love the Onion

Caller: Jim, thanks for taking my call. Will you be listening to offers for players like Juan Pierre who clearly hasn't panned out the way you thought he would.

Jim: I've always thought that the key to college was to always go to class. That way you don't always have to read the book. In fact I wouldn't even buy the book until a few weeks in to see if you really need it.

Caller 2: Rich Hill and Mike Fontenot have been performing well at AAA. Any chance they will be called up before September?

Jim: The key ingredient in gumbo is anything you have. Though I prefer Jambolaya.

I know this is scripted because Hendry didn't start out his sentence with an "Obviously" :) Things aren't so obvious now Jim eh?

Well they had McF.A.I.L. on and couldn't get spit, let's hear how they do with Hendry.

Waddle: "so what are your plans moving forward?"

Hendry: "I will be monitoring the team in the 2nd half. If things start to deteriorate, then I will evaluate everything."

Waddle: "what are you doing right now?"

Hendry: "evaluating."

Waddle: "how about acquiring?"

Hendry: "don't push your luck."

Waddle: "this is the end, isn't it."

Hendry:

Bwahahahah

He needs to get the questions like " why in the hell did you sign Neifi Perez and Glendon Rusch to two year deals? and why dont you deal those bum already, and how about signing a veteran starting pitcher and theres a thing called OBP.. ever hear of it, we want quality players, not garbage

He won't be asked anything substantive. In fact, I guarantee he gets more questions about Ramirez's lack of "heart" and Wood and Prior's injuries than he gets about his and Baker's performance.

"Obviously, Glendon has struggled a bit. But so has everybody. Yunno? But I have every confidence in Glendon that he'll turn it around". . . OP, wait, that second part sounded more like dusty.

"I will be evaluating Glendon in the 2nd half."

"Why did you sign Neifi to a 2 year extension when he plainly sucks bones?"

"We're evaluating him, too."

"Why keep a bozo like Clines to ruin more players? Are you evaluating him, too?"

"No. Dusty's evaluating Clines."

"What conclusions are you drawing from all this 'evaluation?'"

"I don't know. Haven't finished evaluating yet."

Caller: "I have in my possession a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts which have been sliced in half. Burger patties, bacon, scrambled eggs, ketchup, lettuce, pickle, fried onions, and a slice of cheese have been placed between them. Furthermore, I coated each in a flour/sugar/lard batter and submerged each in a deep frier. You can have them if you fire Dusty."

Jimbo: "...what kind of cheese?"

Caller: "Cheez-Whiz."

Jimbo: "SOLD!"

Here's some questions that will be asked:

How good is Zambrano?

How has Greg Maddux's presence helped the young pitchers?

What do you expect from Lee in the 2nd half?

Are there any young players we might see before the Sept. call ups?

Are you pleased with the acquisitions of Howry and Eyre?

Any questions you actually want to have answered will be evaded. I'm hoping for Hendry to use one of Baker's bizarre fishing analogies.

You know they are going to screen the heck out of the callers and only allow 65 year old women to ask questions that make Jim look good. Completely pointless waste of time to listen to.

I'm hoping some one asks him why the heck Hill hasn't been called up for an extended look. The man is shredding the highest level of the minors and has nothing left to prove.

Wuertz too

Someone should call and tell them you want to talk about how injuries have hurt the club and Hendry's plans to make progress on those injuries... then when you get through ask a real question like "what role does OBP play in your evaulation of players?" and "Why do veterans get every opportunity to play poorly while younger players far exceed expectations at the AAA level yet are stuck in the minor leagues? (Wuertz, Hill, Theriot)"

You forgot the inevitable "Why haven't you guys sat down Ramirez for not sprinting to 1B on an infield popup" question that will lead Hendry to think the fans hate him, and then go about trading him for prospects that we'll wreck before they can be developed, thus creating another gaping hole in our lineup that he's incapable of filling properly.

You also forgot "What is Kerry Wood's future with the Chicago Cubs?"

and "What is wrong with Mark Prior?"

You might see a "Why is Glendon Rusch starting in place of Guzman/Hill?"
