That's where it all starts, then he's on the DL before you know it.

Actually the line you probably can look to the future from is this one:

Zambrano is expected to undergo further tests today in Chicago.

That's where the drama will unfold.

WTF!?!?! I thought this was a joke...one of those satirical sports stories like Mark Prior's arm falling off. Being a Cub fan is like being a battered woman who can't leave her abusive husband. You just keep making excuses and saying, "It's not their fault," and "I know they can change." How long til football season?

Look on the bright side, maybe Dusty will be forced to take it easier on Zambrano for a while.

I was thinking that too, but then I remembered Dusty was the manager. If they even have a 1% doubt about the injury, they better fall all over themselves to put him on the DL tomorrow. I can just see Dusty pulling some "we are still in this thing" crap to justify riding Z the rest of the season. At some point, they have to begin looking at the big picture, do they not? Z is a cornerstone to anything this team will do in the near future and should not be threatened for any reason. Jim, do not your crack caoching staff screw this one up too.

How about Bellhorn sending Sammy's career into the toilet?

That was a good attempt, but I think it took the only shattered batting helmet I can recall in recent history to really start the downward spiral.

Yah, Sammy was never the same after Saloman Tores (SP???) gave him that shot to the head....

I hate that man...

Yep, Sammy was actually hitting in the .330's in 2003, I think, When Tores decided that Sammy's helmet would look better in 30 pieces.

1. Salomon Torres

2. It was April when Sammy went down so his .330 could be deceiving. Not enough AB's yet.

3. Yes Torres is a bum. I blame him for the downfall of Sosa.

I seem to recall the beaning happening on mother's day.

The Score said that Z will pitch on Friday, and is ok.

Good news... good news!

Why not skip this turn of the rotation, just to give him a few extra days and make 100% there is nothing there? How many times have we heard from the Cubs training and medical staffs that player X is OK and then a week later they end up on the DL because they were not sure of the extent of the injury. What if he alters his mechanics slightly because of the pain, and ends up really hurting himself? I see no drawback whatsoever of skipping his turn, and a huge possibility for trouble.

What is possibly worth it this season to risk a guy like Z? Give him an extra rotation off, big deal. Learn from your past mistakes, you dumb $#&^^$^$@$!@@$$#$#'s!!!

But that will be held against Dusty's record, dude.

I don't trust the score. They are anti-Cubs bigots.

They're worse if you live in Chicago.

I would never trade with the Score unless I could fleece them.

What happened to Maddux pitching Friday? I seem to recall a blurb on Cubs.com about him starting the second half. Was that changed?

Probably because Z didn't pitch in the All Star game. I think Maddux was going on Friday so Z wouldn't have to pitch on 3 days rest.

I thhink I read on the Trib or Sun Times web site that Hendry said Big Z told him that he was OK and could pitch Saturday.

That doesn't suprise me in the least, but it still doesn't make it a very good decision on the Cubs part, IMO.

Zambrano would argue he wanted to pitch if he had 8 bullet holes and a knife in his arm.
