Thats 5 runs in 4 games since our 15 run anamoly that will likely keep the team away from 'all time worst offense' records

Haha. Capuano has a 28 inning scoreless streak going against the Cubs. Complete game shutout. Who'dha thunk it.

Brewers announcers are the worst ever.

They speak in cliches but do so as if they're imparting some grand wisdom to their listeners, and when the Brewers beat the Cubs, one of the worst teams in baseball, they carry on as if they'd just won the world series.

*Wakes up from stupor*

Dusty: wha-huh, 97 pitch CG, we got rained out in the 5th?

The guy threw 97 pitches in 9 innings thats not even 11 per inning - thatis on the coaching staff in my book. That has to be the approach they teach as we consistently do it.

I think the measure of how badly Dusty wants out of here at this point is going to be determined from whether or not he pinch hits Walker for Neifi here.

Edit:

Buh Bye Dusty.

Walker since June 1: .244/.346/.286

Walker vs lefties for the year: .211/.322/.289

Perez since June 1: .339/.355/.548

Perez vs lefties for the year: .322/.323/.508

Why in the world would you send Walker up in that situation?

Because of Neifi's stature as one of the worst hitters to keep a job in the major leagues, all time?

Don't make me bust out an argument on small sample sizes. Neifi was a god for a month in 2004, remember?

The fact that Neifi is starting for a team with a payroll this high is pathetic. The fact that he is hitting 2nd is even more pathetic. PLAY WALKER.

The fact that Pagan is starting for a team with a payroll this high is pathetic. The fact that he is hitting 5th is even more pathetic. PAGAN SHOULD ONLY BE PLAYING IF IT IS BECAUSE THEY TRADED PIERRE.

Cedeno and his .263 BA / .291 OBP suck. I am sick of this guy. The sad part is he is actually getting worse as the year progresses. I knew a player just like once Ronny, and his name was not Omar Vizquel it was Rey Sanchez.

Blanco had his little hot streak, he now will go about 0 for his next 50 AB's. DFA his worthless butt and let Soto be the back-up catcher for the rest of this useless season.

Nice job Hendry, you built a pretty awful team and put in charge a manager that figured out how to get even less out of it than anyone could possibly imagine. Can't wait to see what genius move you come up with after sitting at your desk over the ASB thinking about what changes need to be made.

Walker has been total crap the last month plus. Neifi has been one of the best hitters on the team over that period.

I'm a fan of Walker and would rather see him play - have been since he was at LSU. However, no manager worth his salt would be playing Walker over Perez given the way they've each performed lately.

There's too much ICE in this conversation.

In other news, Boston finally beats TB

Ortiz gets 6 RBI: 2 HRs incuding a GS... Manny and knuckeball catcher also go deep.

Thank God I have the Red Sox to root for, because I truly can't take anymore of this worthless, steaming pile of crap that is the Chicago Cubs. Frankly, I don't care if we win another game this year. Bring up the entire AAA roster for all I care.

Some very reasonable people (Fred, for example) do believe in playing the hot hand, even if it's one of the all-time worst hitters in baseball, Neifi Perez.

However, I believe you mistake contiguity for continuity.

Perez vs lefties over the last 3 years: .291 .415 .706

Walker vs lefties over the last 3 years: .339 .441 .770

I don't care if Perez has done well in the recent past. He's still Neifi Perez. You can make the argument that it's not unreasonable to let Neifi hit, but you can't make the argument that "no manager worth his salt" would have pulled him for Walker.

A good manager would take his best players and play them all the time, even during slumps, knowing that they would work their way through them and start producing again. A good manager would take his not as good players and keep them on the bench except for occassional spot starts during long stretches without a day off.

A dumb manager like Dusty tries to put his players in and out of the lineup when they are hot and cold. It never works long term. What works is making sure your best players get the most AB's because over the course of the season that will mean you get the most production.

I don't want to get in the Neifi/ Walker/ Pagan love fest...I'd just like to point out that somewhere way back in the beginning of the thread I think I predicted Capuano would pitch a CG SO.... For my next feat... The Sun will rise tomorrow.

Capuano should thank the Cubs for that low ERA. Talk about outright domination:

4.30.06: 9IP 0ER

6.26.06: 8IP 0ER

7.06.06 9IP 0ER

HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Dusty and company showed him!
