I was wondering if anyone can substantiate a rumor I heard from a second party that the White Sox are interested in Eyre and Howry. I heard it from someone who said he heard it on the radio somewhere in Chicago. Guess it makes sense, but no word on who we'd get.

There will be a whole lot of speculation about everyone on a horrible team being available. I don't see this team entering a rebuilding mode, so I doubt either are dealt. A big market team such as the Cubs can afford to hold onto them as they attempt to reload for next year.

Howry and Eyre are going to be mentioned in rumors b/c they could be the final pieces for a team like the White Sox. However, if I am Jim Hendry, I tell Kenny Williams that they are off-limits for 2 reasons: They are solid guys and they are in our plans for the 2007 bullpen, and we don't really want to help you guys win a World Series. The 1st reason being the main reason.

We'd have to be raping the WSox for me to give them both of them. I'm talking about a Sammy-for-George-Bell type of trade.

If the 2 of them are going to the side I want 2 out of the top 4 prospects and a top 10 along with the best third baseman prospect.

Be honest, you were chuckling to yourself when you wrote the last four words of that post.

Brandon McCarthy, Josh Fields, Lance Broadway, Brian Anderson, Pablo Ozuna, and they also have to take either Pierre or Jones off our hands.

Pablo Ozuna? WTF?

You do know Ozuna is the White Sox version of Nefti Perez (slight better hitter, but still crap), so why in the world would the Cubs be interested in another light-hitting middle infielder?

I'd take the first four names for both Eyre and Howry, but seeing as neither player enjoy their time on the Southside, and Hendry is hesitant on trading with the Sox, it doesn't look like it will happen.

I think Williamson will go to the White Sox. Then I will root for him like crazy.

Jim Hendry: Give us Broadway and Fields and you got a deal.

You don't want to trade with the White Sox unless we fleece them... we get it.

You're right. Some other team, (NOT the Cardinals) for Williamson, I'd command a AAA player 1-2 years away.

It's inevitable that you're going to start saying the Sox and Cards have cooties. Just give in to the urge.

I'd trade Williamson for either Broadway or Fields without thinking twice about it. I doubt you get anything close to that from anyone, but Williamson doesn't figure into the long range plans of this team and Broadway or Fields both have good projection long term.

Getting both is ludicrous and if you could get one for a half season of Williamson, not doing the deal is stupidity.

NSAvenger is correct. Just because the Sox Magic has made Ozuna a clutchtastic hitter, don't be fooled into thinking he's decent.

NO!! The Cardinals b/c they are a division team. As for other teams, I said that they should have to cost a lot b/c they are in the plans for 2007, and for the White Sox they should be off-limits b/c of that, and the fact they're the guys to get them over the top.

If we were to part with either Eyre or Howry at this point, it would definitely take a top 5 prospect from someone's system to get just one. To get both it would be a HUGE amount of talent. 2 very talented relievers.

Sure, I'd trade Eyre and Howry to the Sox. I'd even throw in the other 23 guys on the Cubs' ML roster, straight up for their 25.

Great idea. The Chicago "ex-Cubs" managed by Ozzie Guillen find a way to win the World Series, while the Chicago "ex-White Sox" managed by Johnny B. Baker Jr. find a way to lose, and witness the entire rotation on the shelf.
