Comcast broadcast her saying that the information was "embargoed" until the selection show.

Very funny.

Not surprising. Barrett should be in the ASG as well, but the Cubs having only 1 All-Star is fitting for this team.

Actually the Cubs having no All Stars would be appropriate, but the rules are the rules, they had to pick someone out of this mess.

That's BS. Barrett certainly deserves to be there.

Its hard not seeing Barrett in there with his offencive production this year, but you can't expect to see an all-star from a team with a season like this.

Congrats to Zambrano, he definantly earned it.

Heres to hoping atleast he can keep up his great pitching.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. The last thing I want to see when I tune into the All Star game is to have our lone team "All Star" (and I use that term very loosely for this team) Barrett come up to bat only to have the announcers talk about how he served a long suspension for cold cocking a guy.

Not trying to provoke an argument here or anything, just giving my opinion.

Barrett is not there because he lost his cool and decked AJP.

It probably came down to Barrett and the catcher from Atlanta.

McCann's numbers are better than Barrett's. McCann belongs there. Not much can be done LoDuca was voted in and should be the one left off.

Z unquestionably deserves to be and All Star though. Regardless of how bad this team is, Z earned his spot.

Barrett is not in the game more than anything else because not enough Cubs votes were cast. If you are behind Yadier freaking Molina in the voting, something's up.

Kenny Rodgers went to the mid-summer classic last year with a pending 20-game suspension, why Barrett was left out id b/c we suck.

Barrett was left off because he wasn't having a good enough year. I've been trying to tell everyone that all year. I like him a lot, but he just isn't an allstar this year. Why this is a shock to everybody is beyond me.

Who deserves to be the two catchers for the National League? McCann seems to be a good choice and probably should be starting. Should LoDuca be there?

barrett is second to mccann in terms of VORP among NL C with a minimum of 200 PAs.

Lo Duca is the fans choice, and can't be argued with. Barrett/MccCann is the real choice for the rest of the roster and you'd have to with with McCann. Also, Zambrnao deserves to go, he's been great, and got out of his hitting slump in a BIG way.

Why can't we argue with the fans' choice? Lo Duca is one of the worst all-star selections in recent memory. He's probably not the best catcher on the Mets.

The media created Paul Lo Duca, All-Star with their incessant fawning about him being the Heart and Soul of the Dodgers. A bunch of crap.

I'd trade Lo Duca for Brad Penny (the number 6 pitcher in MLB by VORP, right behind Carlos Zambrano) any day of the week. To think the stupid LA sportswriters criticized the trade.

Head groundskeeper at Wrigley is having a heck of a year!

This article takes the viewpoint that Barrett is the biggest snub of all the All-Star snubs. (I think it's Liriano followed by Schilling, but at least it is debateable.)

The biggest snub of this year's All-Star rosters is Barrett, who has been the NL's second-best offensive catcher this year (behind All-Star reserve Brian McCann) and was my pick for the NL's starter this year. Barrett has been a productive hitter since leaving the Expos, who wasted a good two or three years of his career trying to make him something other than a catcher. Could his recent fight with A.J. Pierzynski have had something to do with the snub?

As for Lo Duca, well, let's just say he's tailor-made to make the All-Star Game, because the vanishing-bat act he pulls every summer (losing about 140 points of OPS after the All-Star Break) comes too late for the selection process.

You should have got more people to vote for Barrett then. I agree with the other poster; the debate is between McCann and Barrett. IMO though, Ross is more deserving than Barrett.

Nowhere do I argue that Barrett should be an all-star, so why should I have "got [sic] more people" to vote for him?

Lo Duca is a joke as an all-star. Yes, Ross is more deserving, and so are half the catchers in the NL. There are ten catchers in the NL who have been better than Lo Duca offensively this year, and Lo Duca has been very below average defensively this season.

The Mets are a very good team, but Jose Valentin has had more to do with their success than Paul Lo Duca.

There are other catchers having better years who deserve to be there in Lo Duca's place, but the fans voted him in. He isn't as bad as you say though. I mean, at least he has a respectable avg and OBP for his posistion. He's not deserving of an all-star spot, but I've seen worse. Nevertheless, if it's based on who deserves it, McCann is starting and Ross is backup.

Ross has the better numbers but, Barrett has 208 at bats while Ross only has 110 at bats. That is a pretty big leap.

I know, but since Ross is putting up Bonds like numbers, I give him the benefit of the doubt. He's leading the NL in homers for catchers.
