Taking Bets: Who Gets Fired First?

So, even though this team is one of the most futile and awful teams the Cubs have ever fielded, no one has been fired yet. There has not even been the ceremonial scapegoating of the pitching/hitting coach yet.

 

This thread is to take bets on who gets fired first and when. The winner gets pride and a thread bump to show their awesome predictive powers.

 

I'll go with Larry Rothschild on July 10th.

The thing is it doesn't matter if Gene Clines gets fired, or Dick Pole or whoever. Dusty will just recommend another guy with the same "old school" philosophy. Someone dumb or subservient enough to not point out Dustys shortcomings

Why might as well keep him now. I mean Z isn't hurt and we aren't really eliminated from losing the most games ever. I say extensions for all in a week or two.

A sweep this weekend after the crowd very loudly and publicly embarrasses the club at their own park will probably spell the end of Dusty.

 

The problem is that Sweet Lou will probably get to ruin the team next. :(

Just kidding. Actually, I think it will be Dusty. I want to say at All Star break, but Hendry just gave him the vote of confidence the other day. So it may not be until the end of the year. But, whenever it is...... I still think that Dusty will be the first to go.

Baker and Clines by the All-Star break. The Cubs have two days off following the All-Star game. More than enough time to send those guys packing.

 

Edited to add: Let's get a little more specific. The Cubs will have a press conference at 2PM CST on Wednesday, July 12th to announce the firings.

I fully agree and soon after that, Bob Brenly gets fired and soon after that the Cubs' A ball manager. Gary Matthews might get the boot but they are still high on what he did to Tony Womack.

I say Santo. I swear I heard him slip a profanity or two today before the mike was cut. It was much more than he!! from what I heard. You have to know at this point he is already told Hendry and MacPhail what a bunch of idiots they are for letting things get to this point.

Fired? Firing someone implies something is wrong. Bean counters are working overtime counting the dollars the Cubs bring in.

 

Having said that, the only one with the possibility of getting fired is the trainer. He's the one keeping Dusty's horses away.

I think since Dusty Dumps is feeling the pressure he is going to fire Rothschild this week. Dusty will hold onto his job until late July.

i'd miss ron if he was gone but, it would be better for his health if he got away from this trian wreck. you can tell its eating him up how bad they are.

 

he's preaching the same old story since we chocked away the wild card two years ago. how can a whole team go into a funk like this. he's never seen anything like it.

I think since Dusty Dumps is feeling the pressure he is going to fire Rothschild this week. Dusty will hold onto his job until late July.

 

It's up to Hendry to fire Rothschild, not Dusty. Rothschild pre-dates Dusty and has a separate contract.

I don't think they will fire anybody during the season. Nobody will get fired...that's my prediction...at least not anybody higher ranking than the head groundskeeper/bullpen coach, etc.

 

What is the Cubs record for losses in a season? Anybody know?
