Come on, Mauer is going one way or another. It's just not possible to snub somebody that badly.

Well then you better hope the fans and/or players vote him in. B/c Ozzie won't. If he is on the final man ballot, I will stuff it with Mauer votes.

Care to make a wager on this?

Same here, I'll bet as well. Just b/c Ozzie is a prick doesn't mean he'll pass up a guy hitting close to .400

He's got a personal vendetta w/ Gardenhire. If the Twins have a rep and it's not Mauer, Ozzie won't take him. He has already said he will stack it with his guys and he doesn't care if he pisses off others.

So make a wager on it then if you're so confident.

I guess he'll leave off Santana and Liriano too?

Santana is Venezuelan. I guarantee he is on the squad.

Give it up, you have a personal vendetta with Guillen. He's a prick, but he'll still choose Mauer.

I've read it in the Tribune and Sun-Times on numerous occasions.

Well, I haven't heard him say he'll "stack it with his guys", but then again, I don't follow the White Sox as passionately as you do.

HAHAHA

Ozzie Guillen already has made it abundantly clear that any open managerial selection he has in putting together the American League All-Star team will be used on his own players.

To be fair, the players voted in Konerko over Travis Hafner (which is ridiculous), but Ozzie did take Mark Buehrle over Schilling (who has a better record and ERA).

The roster was finalized before today's game. Entering it, Buehrle had a 3.22 ERA, which was better than Schilling's 3.54.

And why is it ridiculous for the players to take Konerko over Hafner? Their numbers are basically the exact same.

Hafner 312 22 66

Konerko 314 20 63

When it's that even, shouldn't the player from the team that is 15 games better be selected?

Konerko OPS= .952

Hafner OPS= 1.084

Thank you.

My only explanation would be that they wanted someone on the squad who actually played first base more than 5-7 times a year (not to say Konerko is a wizard with the glove).

FJM does a pretty good job of illustrating how Buehrle doesn't deserve to be on the team.

They call him "medicore" however. I agree with most everything they write, but even after today's game Buehrle has a 3.86 ERA, which qualifies as solid.

no, i was just giving another stat indicating hafner's offensive superiority.

So Ozzie basically only puts one extra Tiger on the team while putting his entire 25 man roster on. What a douche. Now I actually hope that Detroit wins the WS so Leyland can bring just one White Sox player onto the ASG next year.

Guillen only selected Jenks and Buehrle.

Nice quote here from Keith Law of Scouts Inc.

How, exactly, does the major league ERA leader by more than half a run not make the All-Star team? While, in most cases, I support taking the player with the track record over a couple of seasons instead of the player having the good half-year, Liriano is the leading contender for Rookie of the Year and is starting to nudge his way into the Cy Young picture as well. Maybe he'll stumble over the course of the summer and won't end up the league's ERA champ, but he has the stuff and the minor league performances that say that the last three months are no fluke.

And I'm not advocating taking Liriano instead of a proven All-Star. The guy who's sitting clearly in Liriano's spot is Jenks, the White Sox's closer, a hard-throwing and mediocre-performing pitcher in the minors who has thrown fewer innings (76 2/3) in his major league career than Liriano has this season -- and whose 2006 ERA is higher than Liriano's, despite the fact that Jenks is a full-time reliever. With Jenks and Mark Buehrle (now sporting a pedestrian 3.86 ERA) both on the roster due to questionable selections made by the manager, I'd accuse Ozzie Guillen of nepotism, but the last thing MLB needs now is for someone to provoke its resident jerk.

He selected Konerko as well. And he said Crede and Iguchi are 1st in line for injury replacements.
