It seems very hypocritical to call out a bunch of fans because they supposedly spend more time hating his team than rooting for their own and he turns around and does the same damn thing...or calling them obnoxious when he continually theatens them with bodily harm or cheers and crows over every single loss. Don't badmouth and generalize a whole group of people and then respond with the same behavior that's you're supposedly condemning them for. We have Sox fans here, and it makes Cubs fans look bad and serves to antagonize the Southside fans for no reason other than petty nonsense that nobody else is starting. Just because this is a Cubs site doesn't give everyone license to be an obnoxious jerk to anyone and everything non-Cubs related.

Who cares about last year!!?? Last year is over.

I would imagine every single Sox fan cares about last year.

It goes all the way to marketing (us vs. them ads), management (KW saying he doesn't want to be 2nd-fiddle to the Cubs), coaches (Ozzie saying "f the cubs"), and players (AJ saying he was rooting for the Tigers over the Cubs).

I saw the director of marketing on Chicago Tribune Live before the Sox series saying that this was going to be the "yeah but series" refering to the Sox may have won the World Series but the Cubs were going to beat them head to head this year. And what is wrong with Kenny Williams not wanting to play 2nd fiddle to the Cubs? I sure hope our management takes the same stand as he does. When Ozzie said "f the Cubs" he was being asked about the upcoming series against the Cubs after a lose and he full quote had to do with not caring or getting excited for the Cubs series and being more focused on the Tigers. If AJ really said that he would rather have the Tigers beat the Cubs then he is a complete idiot but I would like to see a link for that quote.

I have friends who are White Sox fans. I cannot hold a baseball discussion w/ them w/o them saying "Cubs suck"

When you get a break from following the American League Central Division you should watch some Cub games. If they are just saying the "Cubs suck" they are putting it nicely if you ask me.

Why should I root for the White Sox?? Their fans have never rooted for the Cubs. They don't want Cubs fans rooting for them. Fine. They are the ones who picked the fight. I used to never care about them. I started caring and hating them after I moved to New Trier and dealt w/ their fans online and in-person. W/ the Cubs out of it, I might as well root for the White Sox and Cardinals to lose.

Where did I suggest you to root for the White Sox?

"I sure as heck ain't rooting for the White Sox or Cardinals." - It's the only intelligent thing our manager has ever done or said.

So it is acceptable for a Cubs manager to take an anti-Sox stance but if a Sox manager/player/fan take that stance or make that quote against the Cubs it is another example you use to further fuel your hate for the Sox. You are a hypocrite.

Why is CubsBullsBears dislike for the White Sox so off-putting?

Personally, I've laughed at a number of the posts. But, I think others find it "off-putting" because it reeks of hypocrisy.

Bingo.

It's omnipresence?

Wouldn't it be easier to ignore than to goad then?

I think people are trying to show how wildly irrational it is rather than egging him on.

Meh, I fail to see how the actions of one Sox-hating Cubs fan makes us all look bad.

CBB, have you stopped to think that perhaps KW, Ozzie, etc. are seemingly always dissing the Cubs because they're always being ASKED about the Cubs? I mean, I love this team and apart from saying they suck I would never speak ill of them, but if I was rooting for a team and everyone involved on that team was constantly asked questions about another team - in the same city no less - I'd probably grow antagonistic as well. No one is suggesting you root for the White Sox - many of us dislike the Sox, some pretty obviously so. We are merely requesting that you not bring it up constantly. We understand you have a fervent dislike of the Sox, and that is not the issue. The manner in which you bring it up is what is putting people off. That's all.

Not only does he make so many comments that are off base and blatently wrong, but he doesn't even back up his statements with any sort of a valid argument whatsoever. He also seems to bring up the White Sox in every single post he makes. And I'm not talking about this thread since it's obviously going to be AL Central centered but most other threads. It is very tiresome.

Ignore him, then. Those song lyrics you posted certainly don't help.

I did. Don't make things personal.

I'll try my best to not make things personal seeing as I don't like when people make personal attacks at me. But in this case though, I feel that I just blatently said what everybody else was thinking and, in many cases, what some people implied with their responses to his posts. I don't really see much of a difference in the two ways of going about dealing with the issue at hand.

I'm not going to debate your reason for doing so. I wish I'd stepped in sooner in this thread in hindsight, but I'm doing so now. It's done. Do not make things personal again. Please.

As long as everybody is treated equally, which I believe everybody is, I could care less. I won't make things personal again.

Definitely, but I just found it hypocritical.

See, I respect you J.R. because you hate the Sox with all your heart, but for reasons that aren't hypocritical and make perfect sense. Even I hate Jerry Reinsdorf.

Tigers win again!!! Sox lose!!! 7.5 games now!!!

This is really surprising that the Sox are sucking it up so much. It does make the radio shows more tolerable when everyone isnt kissing the Sox butts all day.

New Trier is more White Sox fans than Cubs fans. When I pass by White Sox fans, they start going, "WHITE SOOOOOX!!" They do it to others too. They are rude, dumb, and obnoxious people. I hate their fans so much, I want to punch them in the face. Go ahead, I know you're going to say, I wouldn't make a trade w/ them unless they were getting fleeced. I don't care. This thread was meant for people who want to see the White Sox lose. Not a thread where I could spew my anti-White Sox venom.

Let's let it sink in.

And that last sentence in what I quoted makes zero sense given what we've seen time and time again when someone seemingly dares to even think of mentioning the White Sox on this board.

And having Mabry in your sig, under the reasoning you gave us, is ridiculous. Career-wise, Mabry has been a very solid bench player. He only got additional playing time when Lee was injured...other than that, we've seen him about as much as you'd expect to see a pinch hitter or guy subbing for someone hurt/have a day off. Pagan is infinitely more deserving to be up there with the time he's robbed Murton of thus far, thought neither he nor Mabry are even close to Neifi/Rusch-esque levels.

If you have ever read Moneyball, you have more than enough reason to hate John Mabry.

The guy is a dick.
