Still a large dropoff, although there's no shame in 25 HR's with above average OBP out of a Rule V pick.

By the way, way to roll into Iguchi, Marcus Thames.

Looked like good hard-nosed baseball to me. It's definitlely no worse than plowing into a catcher who doesn't have the ball.

To me, a catcher impeding the path of the baserunner when he does not have the ball is different than a runner going out of the baseline to break up a double play. Agree to disagree.

It's just unfortunate that MLB is so vague with the rules in these types of situations.

Thames was able to put both hands on the bag in the play I saw, so he wasn't really too far from the bag. His objective was to break-up the DP and he did. It's legal and considered clean.

ITS 2005 GRINDERBALL. Had the White Sox done, that, it would be another part of their marketing slogan for Ozzieball, Grinderball, whatever idiotic name you wanna call it.

That would be more appropriate for defeating another team, w/ a pic of Buerhle hitting Hafner in the face

I disagree, if the Tiggers die a horrible death it could become entertaining.

What do those who rooted against the White Sox because of their fairweather attendance think of Detroit?

The White Sox have finished under .500 exactly zero times in a year beginning with "200". The Tigers haven't even remotely contended in quite some time. Not to say that the fairweather attendance isn't annoying, but there are some degrees to look at there.

And once again you provide no proof for why Buehrle would throw an 80 mph pitch at someone's face.

It put him on the DL for a month

Considering they went 11-7 with him on the DL, I'd say it wasn't a huge setback. Also consider the fact that the Indians were 14 GB when Hafner was hit. Nice theory though, Buehrle threw one of his rocket 80 mph sinkers at Hafner's face (who, if you do not remember, did not move out of the way) in order to hold back the team that was so ruthlessly breathing down their necks.

Detroit taditionally has been a good baseball town. They've been beyond pathetic the last 10 years or so and I can't blame the fans for not going. It was great to see a summer, Thursday afternoon game sold out for a change. The Cubs can't even say that anymore.

with a chance to overtake them in a series this week. the AL wildcard race will be very interesting. can't believe that one of Toronto, NY, Minny, Boston, Detroit, Sox hasn't made any moves yet.

The Sox are sinking very fast, and Buehrle's falling off the face of the earth at an extraordinary rate of speed.

I'm a fan of the old time way of solving beanings. Pitcher from Team A beans player from Team B. If Team B deems it intentional, pitcher from Team B beans player from Team A. That ends it. No brawl. No suspensions. No return beanings by Team A. A HBP for a HBP.

Well if one HBP results in injury and losing the player for an extended time, while the other doesn't, that's not fair.

The Twins are going to be the sleeper in the Soriano sweepstakes and get him.

Yeah even though the Twins have a pretty cheap owner, I don't see that happening. He's going to the Angels IMO.

Guillen's response to losing: work on bunting. I wonder if he knows his teams offense is based around the homerun, not playing "small ball" yet?

I made a thread in the transactions forum about it. Debate it there

When they made this team, it was supposed to be a team that killed everyone w/ the 2005 pitching to go along w/ the offenses from 2000-04. Every day it looks more and more like the 2000-04 teams w/ a high-powered offense
