Watching the Cardinals/Tigers. In the 10th inning the gun they use at Detroit clocked Zumaya at 104 mph. Is that even possible to do?

Ha....If I recall Aardsma was also clocked at 104 at Wrigley(I think). They throw hard, but I believe those guns need to be better calibrated.

Nolan Ryan was clocked at 103 once when he was with the Angels.

I would believe Nolan Ryan hitting 103. The others, I'm not so sure about.

I watched the end of the game. Zumaya came in and his first pitch was clocked at 101. Each proceeding fastball was triple digits (mostly 101 and 102) and then when he got 'loose' he let fly the 104. The gun seemed accurate to me. Suppan's fastball was at 89, Rogers was a couple ticks less than that and Izzy's best was 92.

Dude lights it up.

Why? Cause he doesn't play right now?

stadiums notoriously mess with the radar guns to play mind games with the opponent batters

Houston has to have a fast gun. Billy Wagner led the league in pitches 100 mph or more for a few years in a row. I went to see the Cubs play there and Farnsworth hit 100 about 5 times in 1 inning. Wagner was leading the league with somewhere around 30-40 100 mph pitches in a season. How many do you think Farnsworth would have had if he pitched there everyday? It is obvious that there gun is fast.

their gun is still fast in houston.

farnsworth finally took the lead in # of 100mph pitches in a season in 2004. unsure if he continued that last year or not.

Because Nolan Ryan was a notorious hard thrower. I didn't say the others can't do it or didn't do it. I just said I put more faith in Ryan than the others.

Zumaya hit 104 twice against cinncy this year, the second one griffey jacked for a gs.

Didn't Mark Wohlers also once hit 104 mph a fews yrs ago?

Because that is weak. I mean Brandon Frazier hit 109 and 100 mph in the WORLD SERIES, man, against the Cardinals MAN. :)

I bet Farnsworth could throw 183MPH if he really tried. He's that good.

I remember reading from some coach/baseball guy saying Farnsworth had the potential to throw 110 if he pitched properly. Does anyone else remember that?
