I had the radio on slightly. I think he just said something about, nothings going right, not getting timely hits, you just need to make some changes. So yes he indeed did say about needing changes. He was not specific, just said changes. Atleast someone with some recognition is saying it.

Tell it like it is Santo.

He's been saying that for a while now. A couple of weeks ago I heard him say the same thing. The Cubs will probably run him out of town too.

Paraphrasing. .

Pat "and we turn to ron, for our chev player of the game". .

Ron "Well pat before I do that, I just want to say yunno it just seems like this ballclub finds ways to lose. And when you gotta guy like Z on the mound, we had opportunities to score easily 4 runs to win this game. The sad thing about it, this offense is just not clicking, AT ALL. I don't know what you can do, you win 3 against cincy on the road, and now you lose 3 in a row at home, and it just doesn't make sense. And they gotta just do something. . . . they gotta . . . make some changes. . . or something. . (he sounded REALLY depressed. Kinda like how when Dusty loses he goes into his pout and says "man I've never felt this bad, my teams are good teams). . .

They wouldn't. It would be one of the worst PR moves in the history of human exsistance. And Cubs fans would not let them get away with it. Santo is loved by almost each and every Cubs fan. If they want to keep fans, they keep Santo. I just hope along with Santo, something happens to force a change. Whether it be end up in last place this year, Cubs sold. WHATEVER. I don't know how you take one of the most powerful teams in 2003, and instead of building on that. You end up with this heap pile of $#17!!

Injuries, terrible GM, and terrible manager would do that to ya.

You know what's sad. We have 4 players left that were on the 2003 team, Ramirez, Prior, Wood, and Zambrano. 5 if you want to count Womack.

Poor Ron. The sad thing is he probably doesn't have much time left and this team is not going to be any good anytime soon... :(

I listen to the games a lot. Ron has been very accurate about the Cubs on a lot of issues. He constantly is complaining about lack of patience at the plate. He also has said several of these things "Murton started slumping when he stopped looking at pitches" "I know Pierre will hit but until then he really needs to be out of the lead-off spot" "I would rather the other team was getting hits than all the walks we are giving up"

I know he isnt perfect but he isnt dumb either.

On a side note about Ronnie, my brother lives in the San Fran area and he said a local radio station about 7 years ago started the Ron Santo call of the day. I guess its a major hit and pretty funny. Personnally I like to listen to Pat and Ron. They may not intentionally be as entertaining as they are but it is pretty entertaining.

I think bringing brenly down to manage, and making santo a bench and/or hitting coach might shake things up. Ron is a smart baseball guy, obviously, and it couldn't hurt. Why not? They suck anyway...if only Bill Veeck were still alive, I wonder what he'd do with this garbage team.

That's why Ron is so classic, I love it.

If santo became any more invested in this team than he already he is, he'd be dead in a week.

You know of any links of audibles on the net? That would be sort of cool to hear what they say about his "calls". . Now that I am thinking about it. If the Cubs ever won the WS when Santo is alive, on the last out first he'd scream "YES YES" and probably cry. And then he'd cry during the post game interview. And we'd all probably cry along with him.

Damn our ownership.

I think he'd merely confuse most of the players when, during a discussion on the fundamentals of dumping the ball into the opposite field, he'd go off on a random tangent about waterproof khakis or how his dog ate his credit cards.

Can we stop with the "our 2003 team was good" garbage. We got hot at the righ time, but only won 88 games. That's not powerful. If anything, the 2004 collapse was much worse, as that team was better. Didn't it even have a better record? It's the collapse of the last 2 years that has been so horrible, though we were never even on that high of a pedistal to fall from. Only our expecations were lofty, not a team performance.

One more win, third place finish.

Can we agree that this team has gotten significantly worse since 2003? If that's the case, does it really matter how good 2003 actually was?

after Bynum got left at 3rd base yesterday, Santo said something like this... "Geez, Pat this game is not that hard."

I laughed really hard at that one.

I bet Ron could have stood at the plate yesterday on his prosthetic legs and poked a hit to bring Bynum home...

I thought the reason we have all of this speed was to squeeze and stuff, with Cedeno up that might have been worth a try. It's too bad Dusty has already mailed this year in since he has the Wood-Prior built in excuse he starts every year with.

That about sums it up....doesnt it? A grunt and a fart would also be appropriate...but other than that....I think Ronnie about said it all there.
