I don't think anything less than a near playoff miss will save Dusty's job. We just have to count on Jim Hendry to not make a great deal and rejuvenate the team, and on Dusty to not get anything close to the best out of this team, and HE GONE.

Could you re-word this part? Too many negative opposite thingies.

The smart, logical thing would mean Dusty is gone. Which means it will never happen.

I am not opposed to thinking that not making the playoffs will not save Dusty from not being fired.

I confused myself there.

IMO, if Dusty wants to stay, Hendry will sign him. Hendry's already said many times that Dusty is "his guy", and just recently reiterated it during that interview on national TV (Fox, I think). As much as many folks here would like to see Dusty gone, it's only going to happen if one of two things happen:

1) Dusty decides to leave.

2) Hendry is gone..

Again..., JMO from hearing and reading everything since Hendry first went after Dusty, until now.

Hendry has been very consistent and unwavering in his support for Dusty, like it or not.

face it. Dusty is secretly married to Jim and ain't nothing we can do to put those two asunder.

Hendry likes Dusty's as under.

Im with all of the Dusty haters too, but honestly, who could we get to replace him? (that wont be worse than he is now)

This is actually a conversation that's been had quite a bit in other threads, but off the top of my head....

Larry Dierker

Davey Johnson (though he just found employment elsewhere)

Bobby Valentine

Jim Riggleman

Bob Brenly

I could see Bob Brenly fitting in quite nicely as manager.

He brought the D-Backs from nothing to a series, maybe he could have the same effect on the Cubbies (although quite unlikely)

Have a drawing before the game everyday and pick someone out of the stands. :P

I wanted Davey Johnson, but he just became employed with the Nationals.

Others I'd be in favor of are Fredi Gonzalez and Larry Dierker.

I like whe Brenly talks about taking more pictures and having a better approach to hitting...like we all complain about on this website. If he really thinks that and makes his teams follow that, I'm all for him.

Eek! the Cat!?! No way!!! Bring in Sharky. He'll light a fire under the team, and won't be afraid to yell (or bite) at umps.

For the games on 'GN, the camera could pan the crowd with the flashing arrows, like they did for the grand prize game on Bozo's Circus. Then ringmaster Jim (Hendry), wearing his top hat and Ron Santo jersey, could call the winner down and drop the lineup card in bucket no. 6. (For those of you old enough to remember. . . )

Brenly is an average manager at best.

Prior would blow his arm out on Bucket #2

Brenely is better than Baker. Fact #1.
