Putting the ball in play is not hitting. Avoiding K's is not hitting. Contact is not hitting. They haven't been hitting because they've been going after the pitcher's pitch and grounding weakly to the infield. When practically every instance of contact is a slow roller you are not going to pile up hits.

The Cubs, the only team in Baseball that allows only 2ER in 3 games yet, manages to drop 2 of them. I'm predicting it now, the Cubs will achieve the impossible, they'll become the first team in Baseball history to lose a game in which they pitched a shutout.

A couple series wins is not much of a positive. 10 games under .500 is 10 games under .500 (same with 11 games under, and 12).
