At least its a college player thank God.

A college kid who BA said should probably go in the 3rd round. Of course we pick him with our only pick until the 5th round at #13. Stupid Cobs.

I think that it shows our team with a new staff for the draft that we are going in a different direction, a solid college outfielder with I think a good future ahead of him insstead of a stud pitcher, many of whom aren't around or hurt. Refreshing

I hope this kid turns into the best outfielder ever, but taking him is not refreshing. This draft was stocked with very good college pitchers and a few hitter from college and high school. Colvin was not among them. He was in the bottom 1/3 of of the top 200 prospects from Baseball America. Baseball America rarely gets things wrong. Before the Cubs took him he was likely to go in the 3rd to 5th round.

I'm guessing that if the Cubs had a second or third round pic, they don't take him at 13.

They must see something they didn't want to pass on.

Who knows what though.

baseball america has him as the biggest suprize of the draft so far they had heard he was going to the White Sox at 29. I wish we would have taken Drabek who went at 18 to the Phillies.

Maybe if the Cubs would have had a 2nd or 3rd round pick they would have taken someone else and tried to get Colvin in a later round. But they didn't and we just have to trust that Wilken knows what he's doing. His track record certainly lends him at least a little credit.

His OPB and lack of walks are troubling.

Fits right in with this organization. He's another toolsy athlete who likes to be aggressive.

Well we must have a lot of confidence in Pie and Fuld to draft another center fielder, never heard of our local kid Drabek,i guess. We like good boys ,that's why we have a.190 hitter in class A and the Mets have Milledge

.420 OBP is troubling?

.350 and .327 the previous two years.

A college hitter who is over 420 obp over 650 slug , playing on a great team. Taken by tim wilken , ill give him time to prove himself. I like the pick, I have advocated a projectable college hitter for a while. I pray this guy is it . Coach L

So is the order, in chronological, .327, .350, .420? If that's the case, he's improving quite a bit each year.
