Wood has no command of his breaking pitches. Right now I'm not too worried. He's pitching like it's April and for his body it is.

And the Cubs start the end of another streak of good play...

They've proven the pitching is gone tonight, but is the hitting still there?

Yeah, Wood's pitches look really gimpy today... looks like an average pitcher stuff-wise today. Astros are teeing off on him.

Everything Wood is throwing is getting hit hard.

lack of velocity, sharp break, and location will do that to you....Was he lucky during the last outing or was he a bit more crisp?

Why didn't anyone argue the call!

Why didnt Murton go to second? He knows if he got tagged or not more than anyone.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Is it impolite for rookies to argue or something, or did he honestly think that he was tagged? It looked so obvious.

He probably heard the ump already make the call.

Murton probably felt the tag but didn't see the ball. I can't believe no one on the bench noticed the ball in the other hand.

Wood is done for. Where are his lights out breaking pitches? He's not the same pitcher anymore.

Why do you think they have been giving him extra days off?

So other teams cannot expose him as fast.

That throw to third by Wood looked like something the 2004 Cubs would do.

Question, if the pitcher commits an error, are those runs considered earned or unearned?

Give me a break. Overall, he's pitched ok. He's comming back from shoulder surgery. he probably won't be 100% for awhile.

It it what it is. Right now he is a shell of his former self. Do you honestly think he's going to get at 100% during midseason? I'm going to go on record and say resigning him would be a bad idea unless it is for very cheap.

EDIT: unearned!!

This is like April for Wood. It's what, his 4th start?

Resigning him is another issue.

I just don't see how his velocity is magically going to reappear from 91 to 98.

Agreed...this is Wood's April. Did he or did he not have better stuff in his last outing? Can anyone answer this? Velocity, break, location?

And I don't think he's crafty enough, either.

He looks frighteningly average right now. I can only hope he can come back.
