Awesome game by Z.

Being allowed to throw 126 pitches in blowout is a different matter, though...

Should have been pulled as soon as the no-no was over. Another stupid call by Dusty.

You have got to be kidding me. I want to see anyone anywhere try and pull Z out of the game right there. Bazooka Carlos would have been literal.

So let me get this straight. Its ok to leave him in with 115 and a no, no but you should take him out 10 pitches later after he loses it just because it was a blowout? Thats silly logic.

That's disgusting.

If it is Prior's first game back after his rehab, and he is at 140 pitches through 7, with a no-no. You keep marching his ass out there. You never take that away from a pitcher.

I would pull him. I think Prior would rather have the rest of his career than a no-no.

I would have pulled him 2 innings ago in that scenario. Screw the no-hitter.

And then who would he have brought in? The invisible man who was warming up? You can't warm a guy up during the no-no because you then are showing no faith

That's exactly what a manager should be doing. To not have someone warming up is really irresponsible. There's no reason to have Z throw an extra 10 pitches after the no hitter is already gone.

I think that at this point Prior's career would be that no,no. His career is somewhat a question mark now anyhow.

No it's not, are you crazy?

You leave him in with 115 BECAUSE it's a no no. The minute that's over, you pull him.

Z was all over the place that inning. You could see that he was starting to fatigue. And then he lost the no-no and you could see he was trying to throw harder. There's a good chance Z could hurt himself in that situation. If it's me I pull him as soon as he loses the no-no. I don't care how mad he gets at me.

Yes because those 10 pitches would make a difference.

how is it silly? you give him the chance for the no hitter but once he gives up a hit there is no point in him being out there. pretty simple logic.

You don't actually think we should have taken him out, do you? It would have taken 10 guys to pull Z off that mound tonight.

Great performance by the big Z!

It's that much more stress on a fatigued pitcher's arm.

When a guy is losing his mechanics and being wild, he's putting himself at greater risk for injury, ESPECIALLY some one like Zambrano who throws in the high 90s and already had 115 pitches under his belt.

The difference between 90 and 100 pitches is not that bad. The difference between 120 and 130 is really bad.

And what could possibly be gained by letting him throw 10 meaningless pitches when his adrenaline is at that high of a level?

And you would have lost Z for awhile mentally if you would have pulled him. Look at the great Ozzie. His pitchers fight for him because he lets them take care of their business. You do the same with Z.

So the logic here is that the value of the 10 additional pitches is more to the side of a pitcher's health then to the Pitcher's pride & confidence.

I value the better Z attitude u would have towards the rest of the season and his team then the possibility that 10 pitches would hurt him.

What a great game. Let's do it again tomorrow! We just gotta keep taking it one game at a time and focus on winning that one game and we'll get there.

Kasper calling out ESPN in his own way.

how

He said that no matter what happens in the Yankee/Red Sox game they need to headline with Z. Z is the attraction tonight. He said, "They always lead with Yankees/Red Sox."

So he was very polite in scrutinizing.
