Has there ever been a successful manager who had absolutely zero coaching experience?

How much experience did Ozzie have when he took the Sox to the promise land last year?

He coached with both Montreal and Florida before being named manager.

Yeah. Plus he's a family man and he took his family values into the dugout.

Not a bad idea, and he's certainly loved enough in the area that it could be pulled off. I'm sure he also has at least some sort of concept of OBP's value. I'm all for anything that gets a reasonably intelligent human being in the dugout.

I think Joe Morgan would be the perfect choice.

I hope you're kidding.

But have you seen his videos? wait that was Reynolds wasn't it

dude wrote the book (baseball for dummies). joe morgan is our man.

but doesn't this bother anyone else? I could totally see us getting Steve Phillips & Joe Morgan to become GM & manager.

Or Jim Bowden assuming he's available. I'm sure he would like to hang out in the bleachers. We'll just institute a designated bleacher bum to drive Jimmy home after the games.

Wow, I just now realized how horrible Ozzie was offensively in his career. I knew he was bad, but oh my lord...

264/287/338/625

nowadays he'd be a Triple-A [bleep]

unless it was the cubs. then he'd be making $5 million over two years and saving the team.

For this team...sure Morgan would be the man. If you want to make this a complete mess why not go for it?

What does that have to do with anything?

EK would be good because his heart would be into it. Based on his Tribune add a few years ago, he seems to understand how special it is to be a Cub and the experience of playing in Wrigley. I've always had the feeling that Baker's heart really isn't in it when it comes to the Cubs.
