sometimes saying "I TOLD YOU SO" is appropriate.

Post your "I told you so" comment here from last season or pre-season.

These posts should be honest recollections of your previous posts.

I know I have said we should have signed Garciaparra, if nothing more because we give Wood thousands of chances but not a great offensive guy like him, besides his wife is hot.

NOMAR-NOMAR-NOMAR-NOMAR.

STARTING PITCHING-STARTING PITCHING-STARTING PITCHING.

Thanks for the reminder -- I forgot to put Jeff Weaver on my list.

he of the Rusch-esque 1-7, 7.30 ERA, 1.64 WHIP? What about him?

Now my list of you told me so's:

I thought Murton would put up better power numbers

I thought Ronny would show more patience

I did not think the Pierre deal was as horrible as it actually was

Prior for Tejada (even though I really wanted him)

Jerome Williams - I expected big things from him from day 1

Angel Pagan is the next Carlos Beltran (wait, that was Angel himself)

Along the lines of Pierre working out:

Since Hendry seems to apply the flavor of the year approach what if the WS winning team this year has a high OBP and low BB's? Will that finally get him to address these problems?

I thought Pierre was really going to help us.

I did too, I never imagined he'd be worse than Patterson was in the leadoff spot.

Wow, honesty

I previosly said Prior would be 6-1 at theis point.

but and it's a very big butt I know I have said Maddox would be in shape and have a winning record. That I can still hold up

There are far more you's than I's, unfortunately:

Pierre will be just fine.

Good blend of young and "old".

ARam poised for abosolute stardom.

Jerome Williams has 2nd or 3rd starter stuff and nos.

We have a wealth of major league-ready young pitching.

And now for the big one:

JH is just biding his time will make a major splash to improve this team.

:pukel:

I thought Pierre would do very well...I thought Aramis would have a monster year...I thought Murton would do a LOT better. I thought Prior would have started at least 4-5 times at this point...I thought Jerome Williams would have done fine as a starter, nothing too flashy...

The only prediction I made on this board was:

If Prior, Wood and Zambrano start a combined 81 games, the team will contend for the wild card. If they're not close, they'll be bad. My guess, they'll start about 60 games total.

Well, we know they'll be bad...now I need the injuries to hold up to get me to "around sixty starts."

I told you so:

Rich Hill was going to suck.

Kerry Wood was going to have more drama after his 1st start.

Hendry ultimately wasn't going to find a suitor for Todd Walker

The Cubs overpaying for a bullpen really wasn't that bad at all, and in fact the pen is now the best facet of the team (last night notwithstanding)

I don't see how this proves any point. The overemphasis (and thus, overpaying) on the bullpen - along with leadoff and role players - kept funds away from addressing the real problems on the team.

Folks tried to convince me that Jerome Williams this year would be better than Maddux, and that Williams was a worthy number three starter on a fully healthy Cubs staff. I had him as trade bait and not in the top 6 candidates for starter when healthy. That has to be the biggest one.

I wanted to deal Prior for Tejada, even without Bedard. I wanted Nomar to stay, but so did a lot of folks, so that isn't really an "I told you so".

On the flip-side, I'm eating crow on Pierre, though I still believe that the Cubs had to assume career norms with Pierre and not career lows across the board.

we needed to trade kerry wood for a bucket of balls or a 75 round pick..anything to free up all or some of his money

we should have signed furcal for the extra jack...this screw up alone led us to have to trade for pierre and to sign jones. i will not say anything on pierre because after furcal it was either pierre, damon or loftin..and although i really liked damon i was worried about his shoulder...especially with our history

we needed to sign or trade for a quality major league starter. anyone who believed that wood, prior, hill, rusch, guzman and williams would be able to man 3 of the spots adequately all year has not been paying attention. i have no problem going young but to do that and still spend 95 mil...[expletive]!

an offense with murton, pierre and jones in the outfield and cedeno at short can not get it done at wrigley. yes walker has good power for a 2b but he still will go for 15-20. you have 3 spots that may not hit 10(perhaps not 5) in ss,lf and cf. you have rf that if he has a better than average year will hit 25. we needed a big bat in the outfield...not a burnitz/jones/dubois/lawton/gerult/patterson.

jim hendry is not a genius and plain and simple he got lucky in 03 that loftin, rameriz and simon worked magic..not to mention jobo was juiced up and got the job done.
