If Hendry wasn't so hung up on clutch hitting, I'd be excited over the chance to trade for ARod. This could be a perfect sitaution to set this lineup as one of the best in the NL for 2007. ARod's relationship with NY is as shaky as any player's relationship with his team, and not many teams can think about getting involved in a trade.

ESPN quoted Yankees management saying that trading A-Rod would be "idiotic."

Frankly, I think it's just Yankees fans being Yankees fans. They want all their players to be Ruth, Gehrig and Dimaggio all rolled into one. And woe be to the player who doesn't do so.

And that woe usually involves getting booted.

There are two factions of yankees management, the Tampa based faction and the NY based faction. Then there is George. One person saying it would be idiotic does not mean it won't happen. The Yankees are very image conscience.

ARod's doing a pretty good job of being today's Gehrig or Dimaggio.

And nowhere will you find me disagreeing with that statement. Now we just need Yankees fans to see it. Somehow they've been blinded by Jeter's aura to see the true Yankees great in their midst (and no, I'm not talking about Bubba Crosby).

It's not just fans. It's 99% of the media and Big George. And I'd bet some other higher ups share the doubts.

Is it because ARod didn't go face first into the stands? I just don't get it.

He's not as "clutch" as Jeter.

I know. It's really sad that they're tearing down one of the greatest players of our generation because he's "not clutch" or "not worth the money" or whatever stupid reason they're dismissing his ability.

I can't recall any player being bashed as much in the media, by fans, etc. after winning a freaking MVP.

That said, I'm help him pack if he's coming to Chicago. Shoot, I'm willing to let him shack up at my place until he gets on his feet.

the operative faction is the one bolded above, who is generally in line with the media and fanbase opinion. if he's down on a player, it's not beyond him to run him out of town, no matter who the player is.

hence, a reason for optomism that such a trade can go down, slim as the chances may be.

six pages for everyone to agree that a single is better than a walk?

Anyone care to argue those two points?

yes. I want to argue that a bases empty walk is usually better than a bases empty single.

Under your stipulations, it is only better if it takes more pitches. A four pitch bases empty walk is equal to a four pitch bases empty single.

When was the last time a Cub has hit a 4 pitch single? I'd take the walk myself, because it guarantee's you've atleast worked the picther 4 counts.

Yesterday.

Pitch 1 - Foul

Pitch 2 - Ball

Pitch 3 - Foul

Pitch 4 - In play, no out recorded

Ronny Cedeno singles on a ground ball to left fielder Preston Wilson.

It was the bottom of the seventh and the bases were empty.

Yet another error by Arod tonight. Keep it up Arod......Hendry get on the phone.

That error would have gotten them out of the inning I believe. He should have thrown to second for the double play. They were even playing back for the double play. For some reason he threw home to get the runner and threw wide. At that time, the score was 3-0. Instead of inning over it bacame 4-3 Toronto after that inning.

Yankees lose in 11. The New Yorkers won't be happy with A-Rod tonight.

Time to get rid of him.

Trade for Arod and shut him (and his toe) down for the rest of the season along with DLee, Prior, and Wood and then everyone can sing the refrain "Wait till next year."

According to Ben Maller, ARod said he would veto the blockbuster trade with the Phillies that would send ARod and Melky Cabrera to the Phils for Abreu, Burrell, Gordon, and David Bell. I'm sure the trade was pure fantasy, but that would really fit the word "blockbuster".

ARod committed his 18th error(throwing error) and missed a foul ball in the lights in a Yankee loss tonight. On brighter note for him, he became the youngest player to hit 450 home runs.

Rodriguez's three-run homer in the third inning off Burnett was also his 2,000th hit.

A-Rod, who turns 31 next Thursday, is the eighth player to get his 2,000th hit before his 31st birthday.

Ken Griffey Jr. was the previous youngest to reach 450. He was 31 years, 261 days old when he did it Aug. 9, 2001.

But Rodriguez continues to struggle defensively. He made a costly error on Thursday, and he failed to catch Vernon Wells' popup in foul territory in the fourth Friday after he appeared to lose it in the lights.

Wells followed with a grounder to A-Rod, whose throw to first pulled Andy Phillips off the bag for an error. Frank Catalanotto, who had walked, took second and later scored on Glaus' sacrifice fly to make it 6-3.

Fans jeered and one fan held up a sign that read E-Rod.

I'm going to the Rangers-Yankees game on Monday. I may have to make me an E-rod sign.

Any deal involving ARod is going to be a blockbuster but just seeing "Phils for Abreu, Burrell" made me say wow.

A-Rod's 0-4 w/ 4Ks today against Toronto. He just struck out for the 4th time and the bases where loaded. I can hear the boos!
