Was watching something on Sportscenter about him, and how New york in general doesen't want him, or like him.

So I was dreaming of him in Cubby blue playing SS. Is there a package the Cubs can throw together to land him?

if the rangers are already eating some salary and we could convince the yankees to eat just a little bit, it could be the steal of the century.

but this is the cubs.

$25.68 million per for the next 5 years? no way. no way that happens.

The Rangers picked up ~$50 million, depending on what part of his salary that applied to, and how much the Yanks would be willing to pick up of the remainder, it should be discussed.

Although I'd remain on the sideline if it's the full contract (throw Pierre, Jones, Neifi, Rusch, Hendry and Baker together and I might talk).

To my knowledge, the Yankees are paying:

2006- 19 mil

2007- 20 mil

2008- 19 mil

2009- 20 mil

2010- 21 mil

Prior, Moore and Murton gets it done, I'd bet.

Sold!

Ditto.

Tritto. Throw in Ronny for fun. Changes the whole face of the lineup as soon as Lee gets back.

Pierre

Walker

ARod

Lee

ARam

Barrett

Jones

LFer to be named later (Pie?)

Oh well, a guy can dream.

I wouldn't care if it was the full contract. He's the 2nd best offensive player in baseball.

The Cubs won't get him.

Why?

They're the Cubs.

If we would get him, we'd vastly overpay. If we didn't vastly overpay and actually got him for a decent price, he'd get "Mark Prior and Kerry Wood" syndrome and spend 4 months every year on the DL.

Why?

Because they're the Cubs.

Behind who? Manny? And no I don't think Pujols is the best offensive player in MLB, I think ARod/Manny are just as good, if not better, and they play in a league where pitchers are more unpredictable then the NL.

As fuzzy as "clutch" is, the main reason he's getting so hated up there is because he's essentially the definition of "anti-clutch."

So he'd fit in perfectly!

I was watching and listening to the same reports and was ready to start the same thread. My idea is Aram plus ???? for Arod plus cash. Maybe there would be more players involved on both sides and hopefully some cash coming to the Cubs. Alright all of you would-be GMs, fill in the blanks.

Funny you should say that.

The other night Jeter hit a soft grounder to the left side that should have been an error on the 3B as well as the SS, but he was credited with a 2 RBI single. ARod smoked a line to deep LF that the OF had to reach up to grab.

ARod has a 900+ OPS with runners on and with runners in scoring position. He's been bad in close and late situations this year, but it's been just 22 at bats, and he had a 945 OPS from 2003-2005 in those situations. Jeter played on great teams every year he's been up so he's had a ton of chances in the playoffs. He's come through in some of those chances, which caused people to label him as clutch. But he's been the same hitter in the regular season as he has in the postseason and has has his fair share of "coming up short when it counts" moments, but is immune.

Hey, you've sold me. I'm basing this on all of my Yankee-lovin' friends who can't shut up about how much they hate A-Rod because he "never comes through when it counts." If it's widespread enough, hell, I wish Hendry wasn't dopey enough to not at least take a look.

It's incredibly wide spread. Everybody hates him here.

Indeed. For some crazy reasons people "think" he's not a Yankee. They think he is a pretty boy who doesn't come through in the clutch. By and large Yankee fans are incredably short sighted. Ironicaly, the now love Giambi though.

Wood (extra money for waving the NTC) + Cedeno + Dope (when he gets off the DL) for A-rod. Yankess pay the difference so the trade is money neutral.

God, I wanna see this bad. And even if it did happen, you know Hendry would sit back and think he was done...hell no! Shoot for the moon! Go and try and sign Carlos Lee, or trade for Cabrera! Fix this damn team!

It's never going to happen, but if it did the Yankees would demand pitching + Aramis. Something along the lines of Z+Aramis+pitching prospect or Marshall, or Prior+Aramis+2 or 3 pitching prospects.

But it's never going to happen.

At this point, I think the promise of young, cheap, decent pitching might be enough with a couple young bats. Turn Aramis into Cedeno, Murton and maybe sing or Dope plus Wood or Prior and the prospects and that could do it.
