Home Runs:

Nolasco: 1

Pierre: 0

You knew we were giving up good prospects, but who knew the Cubs were actually getting the raw end of the deal from an offensive standpoint, too?

Juan does only have 9 career dingers, but the point is still valid. Before tonight's game he blamed the "long infield grass" for his problems, but opposing pitcher's are getting him to bite on high fastballs. Can't blame the groundskeeper for that.

after seeing nolasco pitch today, he might be the real sleeper in the pierre deal (and not only beacuse of the cubs PATHETIC offense). he has great control and throws in the low to mid 90's with a good curve & change. pinto has good stuff but no control & the jury is still out on mitre but nolasco might be the right handed dontrelle w as far as the cubs are concerned.

Not that he hasn't been horrendous, but you have to take into account Pierre has Blanco, Perez, Jones (when he was succking) and the pitcher hitting in front of him. Seriously, how many RBI chances has he had??

It wouldn't have mattered anyway. Until Roth and this entire worthless staff is gone these kids were going to fail. Just look at what happens when the kids get up here. Not one of them can throw strikes.

Alright if we trade Pierre who will be the leadoff hitter next year? Then during the off-season everyone can complain at Hendry for not getting a leadoff hitter. Not sure if Pie is going to be a guy who leads off for you. The only way i would not want to resign Pierre is if the Cubs could sign Torri Hunter.

let's wait until Nolasco proves himself against an actual ML offense before we annoint him the next savior.

aaaahahhahahahahahahhahahaha!!!!!1 thats funny cuz its true!!!!!!!!!!!

and it hurts.

yep lets resign a leadoff hitter hitting .235 with a OBP of .271

Todd Walker.

He's cheap, he gets on base, he takes pitches and he's functioned well in the role before. Screw the myopic "a leadoff guy has to be fast!" mentality the Cubs have beaten into the ground since Baker got here.

Is that you, Jim Hendry?

Murton would be a better leadoff hitter than what we're using right now.

too bad there is like a 1 percent chance of him coming back

Those 2 should hit 1-2 in whatever order if Pie is in CF

He's on pace for 162 games and 8 RBIs. I think that would be a record.

Which is an even stupider Cubs' move than when they were looking to dump him last year. I'm praying they've learned their lesson. The offense they need to find will NOT be filled by a 2B.

And if anyone brings up Soriano, we're gonna rumble!

FTR, this isn't a Koronka type situation with Nolasco. He was a good(if under the radar) prospect that dominated AA last year at age 22. He has good stuff and good control, although neither are plus-plus.

What a nightmare of a trade.

How about this Sign Luis Castillo for 2b and then you solved your need for a leadoff hitter. Then try to get Torii Hunter or Carlos Lee. For SP try and sign Zito, Wood is not coming back and thats a 13.5 millon option. Try and Hire Ned Yost for manager. SOme other guys I like the cubs to look at is Mark Bellhorn, Craig Counsell, Frank Catalanotto, Jay Payton, Craig Wilson, Tony Graffanino, Rich Aurilia, Jason Schmidt

Why would Yost ever leave Milwaukee for here?

just off the top of my head, I'd say he's under .150 with RISP.

He's probably had around 20 chances, too.
