Just took a break from mowing the lawn to see what's going on with the game. My last check in was when the Sox went up 4-2. Well this doesn't suck. :D

OK, so maybe the "fire" is a little slow-burning...

CUBS WIN!!! Awesome battle back win...great way to head down to Florida and hopefully beat up on a team that might be even crappier than the Cubs are.

Ozzie saying that Juan will shake it up and step it up for the Chicago Cubs. Or that's what it sounded like

Sweep the marlins and take atleast 2 of 3 from the Braves. As of now, we just have to work our way to .500 and who knows where we'll go from there.

Didn't Hawk challenge Mariotti to a fight one time.

Between that and his "Pierzynski hit Barrett harder" quip, Hawk is not a very secure individual.

My favorite Hawk moments are when the White Sox are losing and he can't even be bothered to call the game. You can just hear him sulk through all the dead air. With the White Sox winning it all, I'm sure he's much happier these days, but probably more insufferable than ever (I make it a practice to avoid listening to him).

BTW, for all of those clamoring for Steve Stone to become GM. Hawk Harrelson is a grade A example of why hiring your announcer to the front office might not be a great idea. This is the genius who decided to move his future Hall of Fame catcher to the outfield. His 1 year general manager stint was an unmitigated disaster.

Don't forget the George Bell trade

That wasn't Hawk. He did trade away Bobby Bonilla, though.

Sorry that was Schueler. He did fire LaRussa though

They asked Dusty in the press conference about the altercation in the 4th between AJ and Carlos. His responce well I really didn't see it I was watching Juan Pierre. Does this man see anything.

I can't wait for them to finish 80-82. Glad-handing and extensions all around!

I was asleep through the game.....and I wanted to add my two cents about the whole Hawk "trash-talking" statement. Of course...AJ hit harder then Barrett...HE WAS RUNNING AT FULL SPEED, Hawk you brain surgeon you. But Barrett took away AJ's "manhood" with that jab that even Muhommad Ali would have been proud of.

Hawk Harrelson makes me so very happy....that he isn't the Cubs announcer. In fact, listening to Hawk (I have in the past) makes me appreciate Len Kasper/Bob Brenly all that much more. It also makes you wonder why Tom Paciorek left the White Sox? I know Tom said for family reasons, and that the ATL was a better opportunity, but COME ON.....something tells me Paciorek left the White Sox, cause he couldn't stand Hawk. Hawk needs to be HIGHLY sedated and put in a nursing home, cause the nursing home is the only place he can be ACTUALLY useful.

AJ made hit "harder" at FULL SPEED, but when it comes to a stand up fight....AJ had his BUTT handed to him. Thus...Barrett=winner by KO.

Is it me...or does anybody else remember when Hawk retired from baseball to pursue playing professional golf?

Oh stop it with the optimism, guys!

Contreras will throw a no-hitter tommorow. Z will only give up 1 run, but the Cubs lose.

I am really sick of seeing that post over and over again.

C'mon Z!

dont like the truth? either do i

Zambrano pitches 7 full innings, strikes out 6, walks 3, gives up 3 hits and 2 runs.

Cubs lose, 2-0.

Z goes 2.2 ip with 3 hbp....

:P

I think he'll wait until the 4th-5th before he starts plunking people...outta hope he could pick up a w...

that being said, yanked after the second hbp in the 5th, 7 so, 1 er, and a big ole "L", 1-0.

tie game

0-0

Zambrano 18 IP 36 k's 295 pitches

A team that loves to walk vs. a pitcher who loves to walk people? We're in big trouble folks. Not a great matchup.

Contraras - 7IP 3H 0BB 0ER 8K

Zambrano - 5.1IP 3H 6BB 4ER 6K

Cubs lose 6-1

Prediction:

Zman goes off the deep end and beans Jim Thome in the 2nd inning, putting Thome on the DL for the rest of the season with a broken bone (ending the Sox chances for the Series).

A fight ensues where 3 more Cubs will either get suspended or hurt for a long length of time. We are forced to call up the entire infield from Iowa, and go on a long winning streak of 3 games.

Nice seeing how things turn out.

Cubs salvage game 3 in the series and win this game 4-2.

Hey, I was kinda close, at least when it came to Z's numbers!

Heh, or maybe not...

But really, who would have ever called this game being won by a Jacque Jones 2-run dinger off of a LH pitcher?

Faith hasn't carried this team very far in the past 98 years.

No, country singer Faith Hill. She predicted the Sawx would take it in seven, too!
