My son was in disbelief as he described Perez's bunt to end the game. He thought it was a pretty dumb play.

My son is nine.

Can he play back-up SS?

Anyone can play back-up SS better than Perez. Although my son is pretty good.

Is he available to manage, or is school not out yet?

Well, pretty much anyone can manage better than Dusty Baker. I don't know if my son is quite ready for that. Although he does understand walks are a good thing.

i dont even know what to say, Neifi sucks, we all knew this last year.

Juan Pierre was the worst trade we couldve made, we traded some good pitching for someone who is worse than the player we got rid of. At least Patterson had a arm and could throw people out. my 8 year old brother throws better than pierre.

I hated the play, but for the heck of it I am going to try to understand what Neifi/Dusty could have been thinking (I believe it was first and third):

"I can't hit, so I might as well try to bunt my way on, becuase I won't be able to drive them both in anyway."

When you think about it that way...it almost makes sense. He wasn't going to get a hit anyway, might as well try to get lucky I guess? Oh boy was that sad.

I heard it on the radio, and then had to check the internet to be certain I wasn't losing my mind. Its just so unreal.

Fire Neifi and Dusty now please.

heck, while im at it, pierre, who went 0 for 5 today, also needs to go

Pierre was at his pathetic worst

That weak grounder to the pitcher to set up a double play and absolutely kill a rally was Pierre at his best.

I was really hoping for a bunt in that situation.

Go to Cubs.com and read the game wrap. Sorry to bring it up, but I could never be creative enough to make that up myself.

While I definitely get pessimistic, I'm usually pretty slow to jump on any "Fire (name of choice) now!" bandwgns. However, Every day starting now that Neifi is a Cub and Dusty is a manager should result in an executive getting fired. Or deported.

I think you have missed the past 12 bunt attempts.......

I think 5 of our first nine hitters bunted to start todays game.

I was standing down the first base line...

When he showed bunt, i thought he was going to bring it back and maybe take a swing.

After the play was over, my section was almost completely silent... and then came the booing.

Honestly... WTF?

from Cubs.com

What he's thinking is that the third baseman [Zimmerman] was way back. If he gets that ball down anywhere but to the pitcher, he beats it out and we have [John] Mabry up next. That's what he was thinking. It's not a bad play, especially because the third baseman was way deep. If he gets that ball anywhere close to the line, he beats that out and we've got a run and we've got runners at first and second. It didn't work.

I'm still not sure if Dusty made the decision or if Neifi did.

Jeff Brantley wants Neifi killed too.

On BT, he was not calming down or taking any excuses. Called it flat out stupid because you still need another hit to follow in order to tie the game. He was quite animated and worked up about it.
