Minor Leagues: 158 games-19 HR

2006 Season: 43 games-22 HR

I wonder if he would take a blood test for HGH for us?

If Pujols is dirty then DLee is the same. Where did DLee's numbers jump come from?

Cubbie Rich, you are really reaching.

He has been hitting since he came up...none of this should be a surprise. Players are supposed to get better around the age 26 not 36...

Nice touch mentioning his minor league stats from 2000 and then his "power surge" in 2006 but not mentioning he HAS been one of the top HR hitters in the game the other years you skipped over...

Since you like to speculate so much how about a player playing average to slightly above average for 4-5 years and then having 1 huge season...(not my thoughts but this should fit in well with your guilty until proven innocent conspiracy theories.) It really is a shame that some people will question all players that have a good season. It is sad it got to this point.

In the latest article AP even mentioned he has been tested 3 times so far this season. The HGH thing is probably still a problem around baseball and they need to work that out, but you are clueless if you think the union would allow an individual to take some test on their own. With people like you out there why would a player take the risk of someone tampering with the results...

At least it is good to see most people on this board don't agree with your views and allegations either...I'm hoping you are just being an atagonist and that you don't really believe the crap you type.

And I thought Phattie was above questioning any substance usage, because he said 'let them test me'. OK-I'm calling his bluff. Let Dick Pound do a full test on him. I don't know if they will find anything and I'd like to believe they won't. But, he's the one who volunteered.

I will question players like Brady Anderson, Luis Gonzalez and others who out of the blue hit 50 HR one year, when their career stats indicate otherwise. Some people are questioning Phattie, big deal.

Phattie can overcharge the donkeys for his autograph and point to the sky all he wants to, but he was the one who said he wanted to be tested.

You clearly didnt read the post you quoted because it says in there that he has been tested 3 times already. We get the point you hate the Cardinals and Pujols let it go. There is no proof that he has ever done anything illegal or lied about it so let it go until there is proof.

Since you are calling his bluff, why don't you go ahead and set that up and pay for in the quest for truth. Since you are the one that suggested it, you must feel strongly enough that you should be able to get this done and incur all of the associated costs.

Prime Years? How's that certified birth certificate search going? Maybe Phattie can sell you a copy from his foundation.

Unfortunately, if Albert hits more than about 65 homers, the steroid question is going to be asked, since the other three guys who eclipsed that mark all have serious questions about how they did it.

I don't need to do anything. Phattie can call Dick Pound any day and do it himself. I'm sure that such an honest player and hero of the Cards would want to dispel any possible rumors that he was getting a 'little help'. After all, Big Yak was clean. You'll let me know when that happens, won't you.

It's pretty sad you have to look for reasons to hate such a good guy. Yeah, he's a Cardinal. But he's also done nothing wrong, yet you want to indict him for improving over the course of his career.

You are missing one very important point Cubbie Rich, the burden of proof is on the ACCUSER and not the accused. And frankly, you don't even have the barest of circumstantial evidence for any of your accusations.

That Phattie is saying he wants to be tested. Give him his wish.

Pujols has been tested three times this season

By Joe Strauss

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

05/23/2006

*snip*

Pujols then relented, and said he has been tested three times this season. "However many times Major League Baseball wants to test you is what you do," he said. "You're on a list. They can come today and test you." The reigning National League MVP grew a bit impatient when asked if he has received any word from MLB about the results.

"They don't get back to me," he said. "Why are they going to get back to me? They'll only talk to me if I'm positive."

The fact is, any slugger from here on out is going to be accused of juicing. AP is one of the "nicer" guys in baseball, and if he's being accused, anyone will. It's the state of the game, and until they start testing for HGH, nobody will take testing seriously.

I still don't get this hate that Cubbie Rich has for AP. I can't stand the 3 bombs he hit off us in the "Pujols Game" or how he's always good, or how he seems to carry himself with a bit of class (even though he's not exactly charasmatic) despite his talent. But I respect how good he is, just like I respected Isaiah and Patrick Ewing. Sure, he's getting cocky, but he's a pretty good guy and seemingly hard worker who's always improved. Just get over it, please. You're acting like a total baby. Pujols, nor anyone, will get a birth certificate or anything because a pissed off internet message board poster is asking for it.

Thank you, McGwire, Raffy, Sosa and Bonds for ruining the image of any slugger from here on out. We apparently can't trust anyone

If he was 35 years old I'd still want him on my team........

Wait until he is 45 or so and the Cubs may sign him. We all know that tune; Sign the aging superstar

Why accuse McGwire, but not Pujols?

Are people seriously questioning if Pujols is doing roids or not? I mean come on the guy has been good since he came up to the MLB level and hasn't stopped since. There's little chance Pujols actually GOT ON the juice after they started the steroids testing. I personally believe the man is just that damn good.

Why accuse McGwire, but not Pujols?

McGwire's abnormal build, now deteriorating body, acne, numerous personal accounts of steroid use, use of andro (a known masking agent for steroids), and complete disappearance from the public (topped with that silly 3/17 "testimony") suggest a lot more than just Pujols' being good.

I know we'll disagree about Mac, and I don't intend to hijack the thread with discussion. I just think the dark cloud hanging over power hitters is a shame, and due to what those Big 4 - if not more - did.

I agree. Dude's just good, and he's being accused. It's terrible, but I think it's the way the game is going to be played from now on. You can be fast, hit for average, pitch till your 55, but sluggers won't escape from this scandal for a long time.

Very true, but since he has been doing things no one has ever done before in his career thus far, I hope more people give him the benefit of the doubt. It's not like this guy was a top of the order table setter who morphed into a beast (Sammy), an injury prone lanky homerun hitter who morphed into a healthy beast of a man (Mac), or a skinny 5 tool player who's head, neck, and chest plumped while he cooked (Bonds).

Instead he was a 29 year old undercover cop working in a local high school to flush out drug dealers, then he went dirty and got on the juice and morphed into a 36 year old bald beast of a man.

What is the "Phattie" nickname in reference to?

Whatever it is, I'm sure it's lame as hell.
