  1. From the Fox Sports twitter account: Jason LaRue activated, and the Cards have signed Aaron Miles to a minor league deal.
  2. Carp and Wainwright are both very good pitchers, but Lincecum is just plain dominating almost every time he goes out there. Too bad his run support is close to nonexistent. If he were on the Cardinals, his record would be better than Wainwright's. I always thought this as well because it is always used in Lincecums defense but he actually has better run support than Carpenter. Lincecum should win though. Carpenter - 4.3 runs Lincecum - 4.6 runs Wainwright - 5.1 runs
  3. and he scored the first run.
  4. I forgot that defense doesn't matter. My bad. It better matter a ton for Rasmus to be better than Fukudome. Also Aramis Ramirez gets no mention? I guess he isn't very good either? Probably just wasn't mentioned because of the DL time this year.
  5. I think they are a very good team. I think most people here do. Wainwright, Carpenter, Pujols, Holliday, and Dero are all very good players. The rest are kinda bleh, but that's all they need. Exactly, this could be said about most teams outside of the Yanks. All you need is a handful of these kind of players surrounded by guys that are the role player type.
  6. Rick Ankiel an "offensive force"? I guess it depends on which definition of offensive you are using. He had one good season until pitchers figured out he has enormous holes in his swing.
  7. It cracks me up because it sounds so stupid.
  8. Yea but now they get to play LA in LA, I really hope LA doesnt lay down for them in this series like they did in Stl. LA had plenty of chances to beat their ass in Stl and gave them each game. The Cards miss Billingsley cause of his tender hammy. They get to face knuckleballer Charlie Haeger instead. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Billingsley is scheduled to pitch the second game of the series on Tuesday unless something has changed. I just checked the probable starters.
  9. Are you joking right? Vernon Wells is one of the worst everday players in baseball right now. Rasmus OPS .823 Wells OPS .731 Rasmus adjusted OPS 117 Wells adjusted OPS 91 Rasmus UZR 12.1 Wells UZR -19.1. MINUS 19.1! Rasmus WAR 2.9 Wells WAR -0.8 I don't know on what planet Vernon Wells is even close to Colby Rasmus, but it certainly isn't the planet Earth. Not even factoring in age and contract, Rasmus is infinitely superior to Vernon Wells in every conceivable way. But how can anyone not take his terrible contract into account? It is probably the worst contract in baseball. Wells - 30 years old 09 - 5.1 10 - 16.1 11 - 26.6 12 - 24.6 13 - 24.6 Rasmus - 22 years old 09 - 400K and his clock just started this year. I'll take Rasmus everytime. He is currently outproducing him and isn't guaranteed 100 million over the next 5 years.
  10. A) No, the Cubs could not win the world series. B) The Cubs are one of ESPN's most pimped out teams, they would ride that story until the freaking cows came home and burned down the town again. apparently people haven't noticed how frequently the cubs have been on espn this year. i know that the yankees and red sox are covered more - which makes sense since those are the most popular teams - but the cubs are given a lot of press too. Yep, the Yanks and Sox are for sure ESPN's top sweethearts but third I would say is a close race between the Cubs and Mets. To think that if the Cubs win a WS that ESPN wouldn't ride that story for weeks is ludicrous.
  11. To be fair Braun is not a good fielder to put it kindly. Though this list probably had all of nothing to do with someones all around game. Yeah, of course he isn't, but he doesn't cost you many more runs hidden in left than Jeter at short. Not the best example, I'll admit, but it's total bs that he's not top 25. And ftr, I hate the mfer Agree. Jeter being on the list at all is terrible.

  13. No Nick Markakis either.
  14. Because that was what he said. I'm pretty sure he was simply commenting on the fact that Rasmus hadn't done much against lefties since he got to the bigs. And the fact remains that the 2 pitches he's hit hard this series were both hanging curveballs, which ML hitters should hit hard. He used the Baseball America ranking as a crutch for one guy. I showed it meant crap for another. Rasmus has a MiLB OPS of .826 against lefties FWIW. And only 27 AB's against LHP in the majors. Not really a good sample size.
  15. Khalil Greene is the best SS in the NL according to Meph (P.S. Rasmus slugging through 60 at bats is about the same as Felix Pie's OBP for his career) So, really bad then He has not started out well, that is for sure. But it is WAY to early to be gleeful over his struggles and start comparing him to Pie. The kid has played in 13 full games in his big league career and is known to be a somewhat slow starter.
  16. 59 career AB's?
  17. He has made comments that lead me to believe if it was up to him he will be there as long as Albert is.
  18. Who really cares how many people watch. I am sure fans of both teams will be so heart broken. I'll bet Selig cares. And whoever the heck will be airing the games -- they care. Too bad the Cubs can't rescue their ratings. I feel so bad for the comish and the rich networks. If I was a fan of either team I could care less.
  19. Who really cares how many people watch. I am sure fans of both teams will be so heart broken.
  20. Don't feel sorry for him just because he is working at Wal-mart. He works at the one in Hot Springs Village Arkansas which is a very rich golf retirement community and he lives on the golf course. He is retired and probably working there for insurance. I live in Little Rock which is about 30-40 minutes away. He was on local radio yesterday and basically said all of this. As far as the Pujols comment..... Who cares, we won the World Series.
  21. Aren't the Cards playing without 2 of their best pitchers? I say that even though I would rather have Wainwright than Izzy.
  22. He isn't a great pitcher but he has been pitching great. I think that is what they mean. I hope it is cause nobody should call Suppan a great pitcher.
  23. Yep, but he doesn't like actually winning the series against them.
  24. You can see me in this video if you look really hard. I'm the guy in the upper deck throwing his seat cushion.
  25. Already a thread in transactions. whoops
