Blanco will probably catch a little more with Barrett DHing. Mabry will probably get some time, too.

And Neifi can't DH if he's in the field.

i haven't checked baseball-reference, but i bet clines couldn't hit when he played ball, much less now.

A bad old Clines is still better than Blanco and Neifi. Clines could coax a walk. Neifi battles not to swings at intentional walks and hates to go to first after them.

Gene Clines. The only thing he ever appeared on a major league leader board during his entire tenure was GIDP. He never drew more than 30 walks in a season, and in the one season he had the most at bats with 446, he walked a grand total of 16 times. He finished with a .304 OBP that year. His career OBP was .329.

This really explains a lot.

Meanwhile, San Diego employs Dave Magadan as their hitting coach. What's Magadan's career OBP? .390

Who would you rather have?

Baker's not going to use Blanco and Barrett in the same line-up.

My guess is Mabry plays first base, Walker DH's and Neifi continues to suck deluxe at 2B. When a lefty is on the mound, Walker plays first, Hairston DHs and Neifi continues to suck deluxe at 2B.

Meanwhile, Ryan Theriot moves into his new home in Helena, Mont. after entering the Witness Protection Program.

well usually they'll make a roster move to send down an arm and bring up a bat for the DH games. Restovich maybe?
I doubt it would be Restovich. They'd have to expose him to waivers again to send him back down after the interleague games are over, since he's out of options. If they make a move like that for a few games I think it would be a player currently on the 40-man roster.

If he's ready to return by then, maybe they'd activate Pagan and send down a pitcher.
