Why didn't anybody let the dufus know that the those teams fired their manager before making a run? That would have been great radio.

He said the same thing in this morning's Trib, and no one called him out on it. Rogers even endorsed Baker.

Just shows you how clueless some people are. Baker doesn't deserve being endorsed and Hendry is lucky because he works for this organization or else he would be out of a job already.

Is this Hendry’s vote of confidence? Prior probably does have a major tear because the cubs almost always lie when it comes to injuries with him and Wood.

I've heard that Prior actually died and was buried three months ago. The Cubs don't want to tell because they want to play with the minds of hte burgeoning Reds so hat they spend more money than they need to which will affect them financially for years.

this fact is true, I played the Beatle's Abby Road Album backward and I swear I heard "Mark is dead and has a tearage"

I hear they're going to have Hendry on WGN again, and they plan on asking him "Honey glazed or cream-filled?"

this year dusty, prior and jwilliams have killed the team. Lee's injury & ARam going AWOL are killers too.

Did you intentionally leave JP and his sub-.270 OBP out of the list of "killers"?

"jwilliams?"

Jerome Williams killed this team? Yeah, he sucked WAY more than he should have/the Cubs needed, but it balances out by Marshall coming in out of nowhere. If Williams had played to potential, he would have just filled Marshall's role and we'd be exactly where we still are, suffering through Rusch, Hill and Guzman, who I think all would have been called up before Marshall if things didn't time out like they did.

I hate it when people point to other teams who got hot and did something. Past success is no indicator of future performance, especially when you keep pointing to other teams in different situations.

if jwilliams came through, like many of us expected, rusch & guzman wouldn't have been starting much.

I don't think it would have affected Rusch much. Marshall took Williams' spot in the rotation and if Jerome was pitching well, it would have meant no Marshall. If they had then decided to pull Rusch from the rotation later, I'm not sure that they wouldn't have chosen Guzman.

There's a long way to go in the season and there's no reason to extend a 40-year-old pitcher in mid-May who's coming off a pair of 4.00+ ERA seasons. And it doesn't really make much sense for Hendry, either, as that makes a big impact on what he's going to do with Wood.

What's age have to do with anything? He's been the Cubs No. 2 behind Z since he got here.

40 is quite old for a Major League pitcher and his numbers haven't exact been overly impressive since he got here. Especially if Hendry was thinking of something for more than one year, he'd essentially be spending millions of dollars on production that could most likely be replaced by younger pitchers in the system.

Marshall darn near made the rotation out of ST if I'm not mistaken. And why would they have gone to Guzman 1stto replace Rusch when they went to Marshall 1st to replace Williams. I'm not quite making the connection with your logic. Bottom line for me is, if Williams was pitching better, we'd have 4 solid guys in the rotation now instead of 3.

Marshall was named the #4 starter over Williams, leaving Jerome temporarily out of the rotation. He wasn't that far ahead of Guzman, though. Best case scenario for Sean would be taking the #5 spot a couple of weeks into the season. Of course, at that point, Guzman's brief time at Iowa may very well have propelled him into the rotation. In his first start, the only start he had time for before he theoretically could have been inserted into the rotation on April 15, he went 5 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 walk, and no runs while striking out 6. And there's no telling what Marshall would have done in the minors during those two weeks. If he struggled in a start, that would probably have cost him the spot.

Or, when Rusch is pulled from the rotation at the very end of April/beginning of May, one of those two probably would probably have been inserted into the rotation then. But whatever Williams did wasn't going to effect Rusch's suckitude. He was getting that shot regardless.

Its been mentioned before, but at the end of the season, fire rothschild, and hire Maddux as pitching coach.

Questions are though:

a.) is Maddux ready to retire?

b.) would he be willing to take the huge pay-cut to be a pitching coach?

I'm all for firing Rothschild. Immediately if possible. Fire Clines and Sarge too. Let Maddux be the starting pitcher/pitching coach and bring up Von Joshua to be hitting coach. :D

I disagree. The expectations of Pierre were failry high considering we needed him to get on base.

And he was the premier offensive acquisition of the offseason, the guy Hendry and Baker centered their entire plan around.

i should have been more specific. i meant nsbb expections.

jwilliams had some pretty big expectation here. i was one of those who thought he'd have a good season. pierre was expected to suk, but not this bad.

At least from what I can remember most people on NSBB expected a .350 OBP from Pierre. Pierre has been a huge problem as to why we have been sucking it up.
