For some reason, so many are against a manager getting angry and firing up the team. You say it does nothing to help the team in any way. Well, then why are you against it??? What harm would it cause for our manager to act like that?

It wouldn't be anything other than a guy getting angry. It's not going to help our pitchers to stop putting the team in early holes, and it won't stop Clines and Matthews from preaching an obviously flawed approach at the plate, which particularly kills them after said pitching staff couhgs up an early 5 spot.

It would be an arbitrary, meaningless expression contradicting his supposed lack of interest. It wouldn't do beans for this team.

Ok, so you won't be disappointed if we get a good manager who possesses that quality?

I would be thrilled to get a good manager. I could care less about his personality, as long as he knows what he's doing and it open to different ideas about the game.

Having a guy who yells and is intense is the least of my concerns, and it should be the least of any fans' concerns. Yelling and screaming is not a trait that wins you championships.

If Ozzie wasn't a former White Sox,i'd take him as a manager. His honesty is refreshing. Its funny how his players are willing to play for him even though he don't make excuses for their poor performances.

Well, I like a manager who at least tries to intimidate his players to try and establish some authority with them. That along with holding them accountable and doing so publicly. These guys are making millions of dollars or are trying to get that kind of money. They aren't going to start playing bad out of spite for an unliked manager. They are going to be motivated by the money to put up numbers. If anything, they may at least try or think they are trying harder just to spite the manager and show him up with great numbers. If you want to get the best out of your players, make it hard on them if they don't perform. They don't want to be benched or embarrased in public because it costs them money. And if you think it will hurt us in free agency....free agents go to who pays them the most 99% of the time.

That's a quick way to alienate a veteran ballclub.

So what as long as they perform.

and I just saw on BBTN a few mins ago how Ozzie got ejected. Can't blame him for it...2 awful calls in one inning gave the Twins 2 extra outs. I'd be pissed too. That is a situation though where Dusty would probably just be sitting in the dugout wondering what's for dinner that night.

And this is my point. Although, as UM pointed out, there was a time when Dusty used to get mad. I remember a certain game against the Cardinals in '03, for example, when he & LaRussa went at it pretty good.

I've got to wonder what happened. Now he just rolls his eyes and chews his toothpick, no matter what happens.

It seemed like when Dusty got here he changed the attitude. They went from being lovable losers to a team that hated to lose. They went out expecting to win. Dusty had success in Frisco and it carried over. Now it seems like Dusty has accepted losing.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Dusty Baker as the manager of the Cubs, but I wouldn't want Ozzie either. "HE HAS A RING!" So does Brenly. Who cares?

I wouldn't want Ozzie either, but anything is an improvement on Dusty at this point.

Maybe, like us (the fans), the losing and dissapointment have just grounded down on his motivation.

Maybe he sorta...unconciously...wants to be taken out of this role? I know for sure how I would hate being continuously lambasted by the media.
