Bynum gets a hit and nobody on hear says anything about it, but if he would have struck out there everyone on hear would be all over him.

I was with you regarding Jones last night, but this is just ridiculous. Bynum sucks, and it is late in a blowout. No one cares either way.

Are you serious? Him making a run-scoring hit in a game the Cubs are getting murdered in beyond hope makes up for all the other times he's played and screwed up when victory was even at least remotely possible? Bynum sucked before the triple and still sucks after the triple. Out of pure spite, I'd say he actually sucks even MORE than before for hitting it in a game like today's.

What kind of insurrection will have to take place for Hendry to fire Baker, I wonder?

Intervention by Andy or players literally refusing to play.

Losing 20 of 25 probably does it as well.

Management has to have some say when you're changing mechanics and style of an All-Star caliber pitcher. Don't think that just the pitching coach can mess around with their mechanics. It's definitely a group effort sitting down and reviewing video/footage trying to pinpoint the flaw of delivery or arm angle.

I think Rothschild and Baker overused them in 2003, but being injured all during 2004 and 2005 falls squarly on the female twins (Wood/Prior).

So you think Larry, Jim, Dusty and the pitcher gather around a video machine and breakdown mechanics. Then what's the point of a pitching coach?

If you admit they were overused then you have to admit that part of the later problems was likely due to that overuse. There's no such thing as overuse if it doesn't have repercussions. The repercusion is problems down the road, which those guys obviously suffered.

I think changing a pitcher is definitely a group thing when the pitcher makes 8-12 mill a season or has the ceiling of a Prior.

They were overused in 2002-2003, but NOT during 04 and 05.

Bynum is bad on a level only approached by the likes of Tom Veryzer and Curtis Wilkerson.

And of course Neifi.

the fact that it was a lazy fly ball played into a triple by a crippled old man might have something to do with it as well.

And the point is overuse has a carry over effect. Everything I've heard about pitching injuries suggest they build up over time. 2004-2005 injuries could very well have been at least partially influenced by 2002 and 2003 usage patterns.

Which is hugely ironic, since Bynum's terrible playing and outright laziness have given opponents extra base hits a couple times this year.

Karma is 'effing weird like that.

If you're looking for rah-rah cheerleader stuff on the wrong side of 9-2 deficit, you're looking in the wrong place.

I think you have more confidence in Hendry than I do.

Maybe I do, but that's only because I have zero confidence in him and you have negative confidence.

I've seen no signs, not even a little one, that he'd improve with a different manager. Baker asked for more speed and Hendry goes and gets Bynum and Pierre (who now for three straight years has a bad OBP). Why Hendry goes and gets Bynum is beyond me. I think our scouting dept. and minor league talent is below average compared to five years ago. I have yet to be impressed with Hendry's use of the budget. Maybe he'd be a better GM with a lower payroll, I don't know, but I think he's just a bad GM no matter who his manager is.

So. How does this justify keeping the bad manager?

I think you overlooked my last sentence in the original post, "I prefer for both of them to be gone."

I'm seeing a pattern:

Bynum gets a hit and nobody on hear says anything about it, but if he would have struck out there everyone on hear would be all over him.

Jones hit a 2 run bomb, but nobody appreciates it

How come nobody appreciates Jones hitting a 2 run homer, but when he messes up you are all over him? That makes alot of sense

unless you write a doctoral thesis and have it approved by joe morgan, they are never going to believe it.
