If you had to choose either Juan Pierre or Johnny Damon to hit you with a ball from center field while standing on second base, who would you choose to bounce the ball at you?

Once, while standing near the visitor's bullpen before a Marlins game during batting practice at Wrigley, I watched Juan Pierre play catch with one of the Marlins' pitchers.

Juan was standing around 2nd base and the pitcher was standing right in front of the wall behind the bullpen. Juan threw the ball, the pitcher failed to catch it, and it hit a little kid in the head.

The kid cried for a few seconds, but everyone knew he wasn't hurt because it was a Juan Pierre throw.

A bunch of Marlins pitchers autographed the ball for the kid, by the way.

It was probably Steve Bartman's little brother.

He did look a little like Bartman.

Speaking of Bartman, I had great seats right behind home plate in the 7th row for the April 27 game against the Reds last year, the one that Corey won with a walkoff homer.

The guys sitting next to me were talking business and sending emails on their Blackberries for most of the game, but I overheard one of them say that Bartman works at his company, and that no one ever recognizes him. I guess he'd be hard to recognize without the goofy blue turtleneck and headphones.

ball 1 to vizquel was the 11-5 curve.

also, don't know if anyone mentioned it, but it looked like he threw a slider to finley last time around.

speaking of weak arms, I thought the best damon sign in boston was:

"Looks like Jesus, Acts like Judas, Throws like Mary"

That new purported gospel really takes the bite out of that sign.
